Yes all of us Musicians and wannabes like Dimple :p (kidding) all suffer from GAS

If you are not a musician and you don't know what GAS is? Then look

Here

Post your heart desires here...Wether it be a Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Studio Interface anything that gives you GAS:p

Pics please...I want to peruse other peoples GAS :p

I'll start:D

I want a Blackie

or one of these a Dave Gilmore Black Strat

Raymond....Post a pic of that PRS you want :p

No you missed the point...Thats a thread about Gear you already own....

This is a thread about about Gear you want but don't really need....

Literally what GAS is!

You post your GAS and give a justification for it.

See the distinction?

Even the moderators state in the first post "No chat if you wish to discuss someones gear please start a new thread."

I have this but more cd's, blu rays and tv stuff :(

Music really makes me spend

On a slightly depressing note, my Les Paul's neck has a big ol' split in it; so yeah....that's sad

Oh, I also LOVE one of these. Taylor acoustic all Koa.

Will they play any better, it's doubtful. Are they worth the £1000 cost to replace my older ones, nope. Do I still want a set, Hell Yeah!!!!

one of these a Dave Gilmore Black Strat

About a decade ago (so before Gilmour Relic strat was released) I built myself Gilmour-ish hybrid black strat out of 1997 Japanese 59 re-edition using EMG David Gilmour Signature DG-20 pickup set (same set as used in the 80ies red Gimour Strat) I kept it until 2008 when in a moment of market downturn I decided to sell it. It was a great guitar, loved the neck, but I was not a fan of those active pickups. Today I would do it differently.

Not dissing hard work but that's a lot of money for frankenstrat. Especially that you can't really repeat the spec 1:1 - current setup involves custom wound bridge pickup and unobtainable stock 1971 mid and bridge pickups.

The thing is though, spec for spec, the only consistent thing in David Gilmour's black strat was David Gilmour. The original Black strat was 1969 alder body with about two dozen necks, hardware and pickup combinations. It had 1960ies big head stock necks, 63 rosewood fretboard neck (Dark Side Of The Moon), Jackson Charvel maple neck (The Wall), Charvel Custom neck (Final Cut), mid 80ies '57 reissue neck (Rock Cafe display times), five or six 57 reissue necks in 2000's, was wired with Gibson PAF humbucker in the middle (early 70ies), DiMarzio FS-1 in bridge position (The Wall), Seymour Duncan SSL-1C custom hand wound (since Final Cut), stock '71 "bullet truss rod" Strat pickups in mid and neck position since early seventies. It featured many different bridges, was even routed for massive "heavy metal" like Kahler locking tremolo bridge (similar concept to Floyd Rose) in mid eighties.
And it always sounded like David Gilmour.

If I was doing it again, I would grab MIJ/CIJ "non export" 57 reissue with Texas Specials, change the pickguard, swap bridge pickup, solder pots to input jack, £400-600 total, perfect, very versatile guitar done.

So in short, it doesn't matter what you play, it's how you play.
