Hi Chaps,

As the title suggests, I'm after a new keyboard:

  • Must be quiet, I game when most are asleep, I think Brown switches fit the bill but not entirely sure
  • Mechanical
  • Good for gaming
  • £60ish budget (More if worth it)

Ideally it needs to be no louder than a bog standard keyboard, I heard you can get special things to put under keys to dampen their noise?

I've found this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-016-CM which seems to fit the bill but, looks like I'd have to buy elsewhere.

Any suggestions welcome!

You should choose brown switches with O-rings (either pre-installed like Logitech G710+ or you can do it yourself easily). If you want more silence you can add "soft landing pads" to it as well.

Ok awesome, my research proved correct then! That Logitech looks pretty ghastly.

So basically, any mech keyboard with brown switches are good bets, and pick up some o-rings. Any more keyboard suggestions?

Thanks!

Exactly.

I would say look for features and looks. See if you need USB/audio passthrough (you probably don't), backlighting, n-key rollovers and media keys. I love Corsair K70 but it's expensive.

Thats the one I've got my eye on at mo, from somewhere else as OcUK don't have :|

EDIT: Got it , thanks for the advice!

I really didn't like the Logitech one :(

Went for the Quickfire TK and really happy with it.

  • Brown Switches - Not too loud. Thought I might need oring dampeners but it's not too bad
  • As the arrow keys and numpad are merged into one, it's reallly compact
  • Really sturdy and good quality feel to it
  • The white LED backlight is AWESOME. It has full backlight with varying brightnesses, 'breathing mode' where the backlight slowly pulsates (i have it on this, looks great), and the ability to just have WASD backlit which also looks great

Very pleased with it! Best keyboard I've used
