Teen Shot For Having Wii Remote In Hand

I believe usual protocol is to blame the police officer, despite not knowing the full circumstances.

Edit: Yeah, just like that ^^^

Only in America. Typical cops. I'll bet she'll be sacked eventually or at the very least be removed from front line duties, followed by a heftly settlement for distress that all this has caused her whilst the boys family barely get an apology.

I remember once when my Mum and older brother were messing around with mine and my younger brothers BB guns in the back garden (don't ask) and the next door neighbours must have been spying into our garden (it's the only way they would have seen the guns) and called the police.
2 armed police arrived at our front door. One knocked on the door fully armed while the other took cover behind the police car a few car lengths down the road.
My Dad called my younger brother and I and we were told to show our BB guns to the police. They seemed bemused and didn't have much to say. We were both 11 and 8 at the time I believe. The BB guns were 0.2jules and were harmless to anyone.
Yeah, that was a fun day...
Good ol' neighbours.

Indeed. One item in the article I don't believe for a moment is the claim that the police didn't identify themselves.

What difference does that make? He opened the door holding a Wii remote and was shot point blank in the chest.

Makes all the difference. If there's one inaccuracy in the initial report then it's likely there are others. The report mentions the victim had a gun.

Since we don't know the actual facts and are relying on eyewitness accounts from friends/family/neighbour (possibly one and the same knowing trailer parks) then there's a biased viewpoint.

5) PC > Console

PCs are for sad geeks who have no life.

Game consoles are for those who want to entertain themselves.

I once tried using a PC - it was an absolute nightmare! (those who create these various versions don't exactly make them for the novice; they wrongly assume EVERYONE is a Geek) And using it was WORSE!!! Besides, I've ALWAYS used XBox, and it's too late to teach this old dog new tricks. And when PCs become as easy to use as XBox, games are as easy to load into PC as it is for XBox, and there's Halo 2 ported to PC (or better still, XBox games are compatible with PC), THEN I'll use it And You PC-ers DARE to accuse Bill Gates of being the 'Antichrist'?! At least he makes his game consoles EASY to buy & use!!!

So, until then, I say:
GET THEE BEHIND ME, PC-SATAN!!!

If you type Wii remote Gun into google images there's hundreds of Wii remotes which could easily look like a real firearm to a police officer.

Alternatively it could have just been a normal one and the officer made a terrible mistake.

i don't know why anyone would be surprised this sort of stuff happens - there's 7 billion people in the world it's gonna happen sometime. It's still wrong none the less.
