Welp, it's time for me to get a new card, again :o

Unfortunately my current card, a Palit Jetstream 780 Ti, has developed a pretty annoying fan whine under load and at idle. It's actually more intrusive than my old reference card because of this (though much cooler). I'm returning it tomorrow.

So I need a new card. I'm considering going with a 290X, but I'm scared of getting black screens. I'm also conscious of the fact it would be louder and slower than Nvidia's offering.

What do? :D

Meh, I'd take the replacement 780ti that you will probably get - I'd take it over a 290 any day, but that's just me :)

I would go down to 780, to be exact evga 780 classified and OC it to max.
I remember 8 Pack benched classy and oc'ed it to something like 1350 core.
On air !

I already had one of those, it was rubbish :D
Well, nice card, but it was a duff overclocker.

If you go Ti go ASUS. If you go 290X which I think you should try go Sapphire or MSI gaming for out of the box or ASUS if you wanna hotwire. My ASUS with hotwire is doing 1850 mems!!!!

If you're happy with 780ti performance then just grab another. Otherwise i'd be tempted by Sapphire 290 Tri-x (x2) in crossfire :)

Palit aren't renowned for being good quality, their coolers are pretty decent and they get some of the highest stock clocks on their cards but I'd go with an EVGA, GIGA or MSI card in that order instead. Obviously they cost more though.

I nearly won one of those jetstream ti's on ebay quite cheap as well.

I have the inno3d 780 and although it's not a 780ti I am impressed with the lack of noise from it and it's nice and cool at 1215 core and 7600 memory. If the power limit was more than 106% I am sure it could do 1250+ on the core at 1.2v.

Not sure if this post will help you in any way on what to choose.

The Sapphire does look very nice :) I'll keep it in mind.
