Just wondering, has anyone done it for an extended period of time?
I may need to do so soon - my parents have quite a lot of land, and I'd rather save for a deposit on a house than pay £600+ a month in rent.

Luckily I have a 3G dongle with good coverage and unlimited data, and electricity is available too.

No, I won't start stealing copper... :D

I lived in a van for 4 months once, with 3 other guys.

We may or may not have been touring in a band :p
As you can imagine we smelt fantastic and were extremely well rested.

It wouldn't fuss me at all living in a caravan no.

Worked for Haven many moons back living in a static on site over the season.

Stupidly hot in summer and freezing in the colder months lack of isulation means the fire had to be on pretty much constantly, otherwise its not that bad! you soon get use to going through doors sideways and banging your head on fixtures. :)

Rip any bench seats out and get a sofa, you will appreciate it!

Love long stays in my van ,its detached with far reaching veiws and heats up very quickly with a 1kw or less heater ..spent some weekinds living in my skoda this winter househunting in cornwall ,that was pretty rough

Used to live in a static for a couple of months during lambing years ago.

Friends have done a similar thing to save for house deposits etc.

I did it for few months once. Gets very cold in winter, like a sauna if it's hot and even the smallest of farts can feel like an earthquake. Depends how modern it is but as a temporary means of saving some cash nothing wrong with it IMO.

We lived in a caravan for 4 mths in our back garden when our house was being refurbished after suffering flooding in 2007. The two of us and a cat, fortunately the van was a new 4 berth and was supplied by our insurance company. We had an electric hookup to the house and water source, went through a few gas bottles keeping the van warm and cooking. We had access to the house for the bathroom but not the toilet though.

Never want to go on a caravanning holiday again!!
