iPhone 5c Activation Locked

Hello all

Friend got one of these off the net, but the phone has the new protection thing implemented into iOS7, so the original owners iCloud details are stored on the phone and it can't be used with out his password, he can't get hold of the seller now either, the phone isn't blocked though as been IMEI checked etc...

Is there anything that can be done? Apple aren't interested...

That will be a scam. It can only be 'unlocked' by Apple.

Your only option is to get the seller to provide their Apple ID to unlock it or return it for a refund.

Then he can put the phone into dfu mode and restore in iTunes, and setup the phone as a new one.

The previous owner should have removed his Apple ID from the handset before selling it. It is possible for the previous owner to remove the lock remotely though:

But this doesn't help if you can't get hold of them.

Did you have Find My Phone turned on at the time? surely Apple wouldn't make it that easy to circumvent it's security features.

Not tried it, but you dont have to give any details away so might be worth a punt.

Was it off ebay? If the seller doesn't respond, are you in time to open a case? Not sure what you would put, probably item incomplete or something.

Ye, even had touchid setup, put the phone into dfu mode, plugged into iTunes and restored it to factory settings and setup as a new phone.
