iPhone 5c Activation Locked

sounds like its nicked.

Ditto, otherwise why would the seller be unreachable. Contact ebay asap.

Exactly, he is just going to put it on eBay I think.

Ebay will just refund the buyer and go after the seller. A scam like that and they might even ban the account. If it is stolen, who knows what they will do.

He brought it off someone via Gumtree not eBay, IMEI checks are still stating the phone is in good status and not blocked, so I don't think it's stolen it's just a matter of the original seller forgetting to delete his account off the phone, bit peculiar that he is no longer obtainable though.

As regards to sticking it on eBay, surely it's not breaking any rules by selling it as "faulty" and locked by activation, I've seen a few being sold on eBay with the same status and they have not been taken down.

Anyway I'm not sure what he is doing with it not spoken to him since Friday.

Gumtree you meet face to face. Why didn't your friend check the phone there and then?

Also surely you have the seller's mobile number so that you could meet up. If people are ignoring you on their mobile then something is up.

Never buy phones on gumtree as there is a massive risk. No reputation system means they could be regular scammers. Even if you've physically checked the phone properly when buying, they could simply report it stolen afterwards to also get an insurance payout.

Obviously there are honest people, but as a buyer I would stick to ebay on phones.
