New car for me, S3

Nice car :) but it's crazy to see some of these on 2013 plates still up for 27-29k when the new model in out in a few months for near the same money as these last of the line old models there is one on pistonheads for 35k !!!!!! Nuts

Looks lovely in white, I just wish the S3 looked that little bit more special compared to the S-Lines. Bet that set you back a pretty penny.

OP, just how hard and what conditions are you driving in to merit the "struggling with grip" comment?
Even in the wet, I don't remember worrying that much in my 330i and as that runs with rwd, will supposedly kill you in the wet.

Tell me about it, a little bit more than I wanted to pay but it was pretty close to the spec I wanted so decided to go for it.

the s3 is a good car, my dad has one, but its a bit boring when its stock it doesn't make much noise and the turbo is too small and runs out of steam at the top. i think with a bit of tuning it could be all good though. i would have bought an older s4 for around the same price super charged V6 sounds nicer than a 4 pot.

I would agree with you, it does 'run out of puff' at the top end, which is why its getting remapped soon - it will help liven it up a bit :)

Point taken about the S4 but I much prefer the drive and characterisitics of a turbo charged car to a supercharged one

Ummm, not hard much honest!

Seriously though, I didnt drive my K1 like death but it really did struggle when getting the power down even if it was a bit damp - the map was quite aggressive and the torques were plentiful.

Cant comment on why you dont have any problems putting power down in a bmw, maybe you are just better at pressing the go pedal than I am lol :)

The turbo on these although small are much improved and mine doesn't run out of steam badly at all. Yes the boost tails off but that's when peak power is produced beyond that. The fact you can get up to 370hp out of a standard KO4 is amazing.

Mine sounds quite fruity with the standard exhaust.

I like the colour, like mine you have the black grill surounds etc. which look much better than the chrome ones when the car is white; IMO.

Enjoy:)

Well I thought I would update this with a few more pics.

Firstly, as I eluded to earlier - the Revo CAI;

I then had a cat back BCS Exhaust fitted;

The guys at BCS really do take pride in their work, which I'm sure is evident from the above :)

The exhaust is a work of art but the main thing I like about it is that it can be pretty much silent (no droning on the motorway for example) or loud when you want it to - controlling this all by the 'go' pedal :D

Since the above I have also had an uprated fuel pump fitted, along with H&R springs and Revo stage 2+ code.

Revo also used my car to develop the DSG software - this said goodbye to the kick-down, torque limiter and made the changes even quicker :cool:

I like that.

I'm a big fan of the haldex system. Gives you a 4wd shove when you boot it, but doesn't eat your rear tyres, and maintains better fuel economy than a normal 4wd system. Although, don't go thinking you can go Colin McRae in the snow and mud :P

Agreed. If I get a mother VAG then I'll be returning to haldex.

Apart from the recession white, it looks great.

I actually like it in white although I don't generally like white cars. I really do think the fashion bubble for white is going to burst soon though. I read somewhere, although can't remember where, that white car sales were down in 2012 or 2013 for the first time.

Nice car! Lacking cruise control though ;)

These are rapid at stage 2+ Shark!

Not quite sure why you thought an RS4 NA V8 is low on power though at 450hp...

That exhaust is rather over engineered!

Sound vids!

Not my S3 but the same exhaust;

From my reading the NA V8s apparently were not great engines, maybe what I read was wrong though :confused:

I do want cruise and its a cheap option to retrofit but more important things (power! :D) got in the way first.

Enjoy mate. Hopefully some more decent weather, white looks great when the suns out.

Thanks :)

When I was at BCS they had an M135 there which they had just fitted a powervalve system too, sounded very nice indeed.

Are running costs on Audi's generally quite hight then? would love an Audi but can't really spends tons on maintenance..

I have had to use main dealers in the past, both vw and Audi, both times were expensive and quality of workmanship and customer care were far below the specialist I use.
