I'll probably go tomorrow or monday to Car graveyard and have a look. What kind of cars had/have the 'most' comfortable seats?

This is a rubbish idea, but if any seat i think a W140 S-Class seat would probably be the best seat you could hope to find. They are absolutely awesome seats, the only seats which would be better would be something out of an old Bentley Mulsanne or something, or an old Rolls.

Seriously though, in a car seat your legs are nearly horizontal, with your feet on the floor they are very uncomfortable as they usually have a high front.

If you notice all the manufactured car seat chairs have flat bases.

Try and find something out of a van.

Why?
E.g. Kei has a car seat (from an old saab?) as an desktop chair.

Edit

My dad's friend had also an chair from Saab 9-3 II, the base was made from a small wooden coffe table.

Xsara VTS seats are quite comfy, if you want one for free and can pick up I've got a couple in the garage!

I agree with Jez about seat position, I tried fitting some car seats to an old Land Rover and it was uncomfortable for the exact same reason.

Along with a van have a look for Discovery 1/2 seats and early Range Rover seats as these also have a more upright seating position. Mind you a lot of them are probably full of complex electrics too :)

Try a high end seat out of say a Scania or Volvo HGV (not the basic spec one mind you) you'd need to find a specialist HGV breaker but, IMO, you'll find a seat out of something designed to be driven all day, every day better than the vast majority of car seats where very long trips are generally the exception rather than the norm.

With an HGV seat though you will need an air supply, high end HGV seats have air suspension, quite literally.

Comfy as my old 7 series was for example, it wasn't a patch ,seating comfort wise, compared to a high spec Scania, or for that matter Volvo, DAF, Merc et al.

You've a good point, but there are exceptions! ;)

How many "Old Skool" scrap yards are still remaining ?

I haven't been to one in years but I've heard that due to Health & Safety Joe Public aren't allowed to wander around like we used to ?

Apparently they are called "Vehicle Dismantlers" now because they break the vehicles down into components ?

There's two of note to me, one of them is very clean and organised. All the cars are broken down and the parts stored indoors, very organised by manufacturer and part type. I'd have no problems fitting an interior from this place. They only deal with desireable cars though (Hot hatches, fast saloons etc) so I guess the customers are likely to be more scrutineering about the quality of the bits.

The 2nd one is your more old skool scrappy, loads of cars dumped on top of each other with fluids leaking everywhere, all stored outside and full of damp/rust/animal poo and wee. I'd think twice about buying anything from there :D
