Well someone launched an application on all of your computers at the same time which is incompatible with Windows Aero or requires the use of compatibility mode.

What this application was? I cannot tell you from sitting here.

What were you talking about in Skype?

Task Scheduler: Microsoft\Windows\Maintenance\WinSat: At 01:00 every Sunday of every week, starting 01/01/<installation year>

Disable it.

This happened to me as well, everything reverted back to standard from aero and fan speed went up to 59%. I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on and was about to restart.

I'm on an ATI. Very strange.

It's the Windows Experience Index program (the one that rates your computers speed etc) auto-running through Task Scheduler at 1am Sunday morning to update your performance scores.

I've disabled mine and it's never happened since.

Amazing, was talking to someone via steam chat that had exactly the same thing happen. Being on a mac didn't see it but have to admit it was funny to know what caused it.

I'm always up at this time on a Sat night/Sunday morning and this has never happened before.

It "randomly" seems to decide it needs to update the WEI stuff and runs some benchmarks - its pretty bad IMO as whatever it does hits CPU harder than just about anything, even the normal WEI test - even prime95 - though its fairly brief I've seen it destroy systems before (normally laptops). Which is why I posted about it so quickly rather than letting people have their fun :S

Someone has remotely accessed your machine and reduced the colors displayed so that they can see what you are doing without the burden of the colors taking up unnecessary bandwidth.

I suggest you put your clothes back on and pray none of the footage or images taken are used in evidence against you or posted online.

Are you sure you all just didnt "arrive" on your respective screens at the same time after your 7 way skype worm burping session? Try an anti static wipe on your screen..... :D

Same here. Had Vista, 7 and 8 (all have Windows Experience Index) and never seen the colour change. There was one game I had though that needed compatibility mode, which occurred at the time I launched the game, certainly not at 1:00AM.
