OK Ive got a tremendous amount of games, both digital and physical, and trying to work out

a) the best way to organise the buggers so I actually know what I own without the effort of double checking. There must be apps/'databases' for this with some cool features. For example things like PSNs download list makes it kinda impossible to find stuff easily...

b) what to play before things like marketplaces/stores switching off or servers closing. I blame FIFA for my backlog and really want a good go at reducing it while making sure I play the games that deserve playing/finishing...

It really is a silly question, but theres so many options and I dont get the time to really game so end up buying games to collect rather than experiencing them! Must be others here in similar situations maybe further down the road than me? Help me find the light at the end of the tunnel!

I get this on my PC, I have a backlog on Steam and don't know where to start. List some games you have and get somebody else to choose the game. Then nail it :)
If you think of a PS3/PSN Ill likely have it :p. I wish there was some app that I could just scan barcodes in or that code on the spine - if I collate what I have Ill have a better idea whats worth doing or not.

Im the same with Steam, but less worried about how quickly we would lose access to that...
I don't have a backlog - if it's good enough to finish, i'll finish it. If it's not it'll be sold.
Hell Ive got stuff thats still sealed thats generation defining :p

Not sure if this helps.

I THINK it does have PS3 games, not 100% sure though.

Also, you need to insert the games manually, not scan a bar code.
Cheers dude that seems to be a really good start, would have preferred something that wasnt so manual but doubt Ill find that (there was some cool iOS app I found but dont think it was well supported/updated) - will have to put a load of digital games in anyhow.

I suspect I must have 200+ just on PS3/PSN alone...

EDIT: Bah it doesnt have the ability to filter by date

I just play what I feel like at the time and then move onto the squeals I have also made a rule on steam don't buy a news game until I complete at least x amount, my steam backlog is now about eight games and about five PS3 games not including the PS plus games as most of them I would have not purchased in the first place or complete already on pc. My advice just stop buying games and leaving them on the shelf unless you intended to play them within the month of purchase.

There is this:

I use the standard PC app and a USB barcode reader so no idea how the iOS app fares, but it's a good bit of software :)

Used to get backlogs but realised it was pointless. Now I have a one in one out policy which works out much better.

I've got 306 games on steam, 90% I doubt I have given more than 5 mins to, I would love to be able to sell off the ones I won't ever play just to make it a more manageable list.

For Steam I try and use a 'To Play Next' category, which if I'm honest doesn't work that well. For everything else I've got far too much to play given the spare time I have.

I think the chap above is right, less is more, but I personally find that playing one game at a time is difficult particularly when there's so many games out there I want to play.

I have done some clear out of 360/PS3/Wii games before the new machines came out which has helped a bit, and will keep going to try and clear some more space by selling some of the unlikely to be played again 360 games.

I made a spreadsheet a while back and never made a dent in it.

So what I've done recently is simply installed every single game I own on the PC/PS3/PS4.

Most of them are things I've picked up cheap, or gotten via PS+ etc. I will give each game 30 minutes to get my attention and if it hasn't, I simply remove it from the HDD and never look at it again. If it passes the 30 minute mark, I give it another 90 minutes and if I'm still enjoying it I'll finish it.

There are 100s of them, so it'll take a long time but it's an easy way to make sure I get through them all.

I find that I really don't like many games these days though so I doubt many of them all will last the 30 minute evaluation.
I've already booted out Crysis 2, Metal Gear Revengeance, Hitman, Tales of Xillia, and Beyond Two Souls on PS3 and Skyrim on PC.

I played Rainbow Moon for 50 hours but got sick of it and didn't finish it because it got really tedious towards the end.

I did also play Van Helsing (diablo type game) on PC to completion which I enjoyed.

I need to start doing this too, especially where PSN is concerned as I seem to completely forget what games I've bought or had via PS+. Really doesn't help that there's simply no easy way of seeing what games you own on the PS Store without being presented with a list of everything you've downloaded ever. Quite how they think that's acceptable these days, I don't know.
