How to cope with a Phablet?

Just wondering how people cope with these things. I'm a SIII user at the mo, but have acquired a galaxy note for a little project.

I've been taken aback by how great the screen size is and the pen capabilities etc, so just for fun tried to use it as an everyday phone...And WTF?

How on earth do people carry these things around? I'm not sure I even own a pair of trousers that this thing can fit in, and if I did how the flip would you sit down!

Now I know people love these things, and I can see why but how do people live with these?

Any advice, or do people change their wardrobe to baggy trousers :D

Jeans seem fine with my Lumia 1520, unless you have hipster jeans anyway. That or the suit jacket pocket that it normally goes in.

Definitely wouldn't want it any bigger though, and will probably go a bit smaller for my next phone.
 
I'm a note 3 user and have yet to come across a pair of my jeans that it doesn't fit in.

Getting used to it for one handed use takes a little bit but I came from a galaxy s2 so there was quite a size difference.
 
Jacket pocket or bum bag in hot weather is how I carried my Note, I don't even keep my s4 in my trousers though both my Note and s4 fit in all my pockets I just think it's dumb to risk flexing.
 
Never have any problems with my Note 1 and pockets, etc. as a phone I find it easy to use but I can imagine people with smaller hands would struggle.

EDIT: Mostly goes into a jacket pocket but in the summer has to be trousers which is a little more annoying - more so as I prefer it to be secure and it doesn't have anywhere to attach a strap.

What Note? Note 1? 2?

The Note 3 is smaller than the previous ones and thinner and lighter. Regardless I had no trouble keeping either in my jeans pocket of jacket inner pocket. It's lighter than most other phones out there that are smaller and that's where the credit goes at keeping it pocket friendly and easy to handle daily.

Since when did fitted mean hipster? There's no way a Lumia 1520 would fit in my pockets unless I wore combat trousers like a 13 year old.

I think 5"/Nexus 5 is the absolute limit for me.
 
I've been considering a Note 3 and may go for one if the S5 is roughly the same spec (I expect it'll be better though).

As long as you aren't walking around on the phone all the time, or trying to do full screen things with one hand (scrolling through pages etc is fine), I expect the Note 3 is comfortable enough to use, even if your hands are average size. The fact it's very thin also helps. It should also easily fit in regular jean pockets without an issue.

I really, really like the fake leather design on the back of the Note 3, hope it's on the S5, unless they've gone for metal.

You mean form over function, which is something samsung always does, there devices are generally great in the hand and very ergonomic, but they could do with improving the touch and feel. The Note3 is better, just got my dad one and the fake leather feels good I like it, the sides are still a little weird.

I was using the Note 3 for 2 days and it is pretty unwieldy, I don't think it would fit in my suit pants but everything else should be fine. Using it in 1 hand is difficult, so I tend to hold it in 1 hand and navigate the device with the second hand.

To be completely honest, I initially went through a honeymoon period of completely accepting the size of the phone and claiming it was more than appropriate. Fast forward four months:
- you can't depend on one handed use (I'm 6'3 so my hands aren't exactly small)
- it's substatially heavier
- use as my everyday mobile is simply cumbersome

Now I'm stuck with this mammoth for another year and a half, there was simply no way to spot this problem with research (and trust me, I review the bejeez out of anything I decide to hand over my hard earn cash towards) so I'm a little more than livid about this let alone the OS issues.

I had a Note 1 for 2 years. I coped by putting it in my trousers pocket and taking it out again when i needed to use it :confused:

My comment related to the actual premium design that went into the Note 3 and i stand by it rather than some glib quip relating to the sexy value of 40g of aluminium, plastic is premium if it fits the task better than some other material that has some amorphous merit.
 
FlyingFish, think what you did when you had a Nokia 402 back in the late 90s :-) Your sign-up date on the forums (2003) implies that you are around my age thus will have had similar-era phones.
