Banished - upcoming city-building strategy

Gonna restart mine today as bored of my current one. Feels like i have infinite resources and despite getting one disaster after another it never really affects my town they just replace the dead jobs and carry on lol.

So now i want to find a nice looking map to start with and make a good looking village.

Whats the best thing to do about a crop infestation? Just leave it or do you destroy destroy the crop or harvest it quick while you can.

Oh dear, I have 218 souls and I am about to run out of food, I should have about 10,000+ food but all I have is 1000:(

After a crop has been infested you want to harvest it asap and then switch it do a different produce. Also make sure that there aren't any other farms near it with the same produce as the one that was initially infested.

If livestock gets infested theres a simple way to deal with this too. Have a spare un-worked pasture the same size as the one that has the infested livestock. When the infestation kicks in empty all the livestock from the infested one into the empty one then the infestation on the old paddock is cured and you can move them back.

This method saved my 126 chicken when both got infested!

If Orchards get infested harvest and chop them down asap and replant

This just happened.

I least I have a town and several villages ready just to repopulate.

my population dropped to 16 people and they are mostly in their 70"s :( i have more than enough houses but they only have 1 person in them.

fantastic game though.

Do you have a trading post and town hall? If so hopefully some nomads will ask to settle and that could solve your problem.

This game might be one I will buy and play, when I have read a little more about it and maybe if the dev commits to adding other features etc.
It does give an impression of lacking some objectives and perhaps a reason to continue to play after you get to a certain point of development..?
However it has encouraged me to reinstall Anno 1404 and its expansion as well as the 800mb IAAM mod collection.
I had forgotten how much fun can be had from this sort of game.
I will place on hold my Sparta campaign in RTW II until patch 10.

I have a small town of around 70 people but I don't think ill be playing any further than this, far to much micro management and not enough to build.

It's a fun game though, easily lose a few hours playing this which in itself is a good reason to stop playing. :D

Yep, I think this is the problem. Its a nice game but you do get to that point, it just needs something extra.

I still can't believe this has been made by just one person, such an amazing achievement, especially when you think about the rubbish huge teams can churn out.

Looking at steam I have played 36 hours, yes the game needs something more but comparing it to my last COD purchase I played 12 hours in total and that game was more than twice the price.

My current game is bugged, I have had about 8 villagers just walk into the middle of nowhere and either died of starvation or frost. Not to mention losing about 10ppl to frost despite having loads of firewood.
