GS5 to launch in January

It "is" nicer. The white back cover is just plastic textured, not rubbery at all.

I'm not even sure it's available to order anywhere yet.

Assuming it's a good step ahead of the Note 3, I'll get one, otherwise I might get a Note 3 instead...

I'm expecting it to be pretty damn good.
 
So a thinner more powerful version of the S4 then basically. Not sure why I expected a revolutionary redesign anyway :p.

Phone companies are understandably reluctant to change a winning formula too much, but three iterations of the same phone looking almost identical is a little bit too safe. But what do I know, if it's making them piles of cash.

Looks like we won't see frameless anyway which is what I was hoping for if not expecting.

The waterproofing is an absolute blessing... I can't tell you how amazingly convenient it is to have a phone that you can get out while skiing or in the rain and not have to worry about it dying. Water damage in phones is a HUGE risk, and to not have that worry is very liberating.

The speaker is also surprisingly loud and decent, certainly much better than the Samsung phones I had... so no problems there for me as I don't use it as a boombox.

As for removeable battery, this is an oft-overstated feature which only really affects a very small percentage of people who carry spares around between charges. The battery on the Z1 Compact is a trooper, among the best on any Android device currently.

Looking forward to seeing hat the S5 brings tomorrow though!
 
Knowing Samsung the S5 Neo as I'm calling it :p, won't offer all that much more over the S4, better camera & maybe more memory and a slight speed bump while still being 1080p.

It's will be the metal version of the S5 that they launch during the summer, that have the QHD screen, premium build & latest Snapdragon ect.
 
Doesn't make sense that, why release a lower end version first when the flagship is the one you want to show off at an event like this.

I'm betting the leaked video doesn't show the S5 but maybe something else.

We'll find out tonight.

The gold one has a much bigger camera bump then the white on in that leak above so I'm guessing it could be 2 versions.

Perhaps to compete with Apples two I5 versions?
