Giving Up Coffee

You will have a really bad headache for a few days due to withdrawal symptoms and will likely be narky and irritable for a few days.

Yep, this started to happen to me after 2 days for about 3-4 days after quitting caffeine because i thought i was drinking far too much. It was surprising and horrible.

Now i only have 2 maybe 3 coffees a day during the week and 1-2 a day at the weekend.

Quitting coffee is for chumps.

I used to drink a lot of coffee, but a few years ago cut down to about 3 cups a day.

About 6 months ago I had white/clear braces put on my teeth and was advised to avoid highly staining foods, I cut coffee out completely and was expecting it to be really hard, it had absolutely no impact at all, haven't had a coffee in months and haven't really missed it once.
That said may start drinking it again when I have the braces removed, purely because it tastes good :)

and there I thought I drunk a lot of coffee having 2-3 cups a day

That said I must have a coffee in the morning. I drink real coffee though non of this instant carp.

I've had 2 coffees in five days, and I've had to bite the bullet this morning and get an energy drink because I literally couldn't work without it. Blinding headache, aching back, dizziness, nausea.

It is clear that I had a problem, and that I'm on the right track. It's not an easy road though. Half way through my energy drink my sight has returned to normal and my headache almost gone :/

I love coffee but only have 1 cup of it in the morning. That's it. No tea just lots of water. I do have tea at the weekends too.

8 cups is a lot. You don't have to cut it out completely, just reduce your intake. Don't deny things you enjoy, just do it in moderate quantities. :)

I've cut down massively, maximum 2 cups a day, and never 100% strength any more. Still, couldn't give it up permanently, and I'm off to a country that has significantly better coffee so will probably end up drinking more!

I tried going cold turkey in an aim to remove the dependency, with a view to reintroducing it at a lesser rate in future. I hate being dependent on something, especially when it is avoidable. At it's zenith I was making a fresh coffee at home, picking up a large latte on my way into work, drinking that and having a Cappuccino before the 10am call, a can of Monster between 11am and 1pm and various coffees at work through the day as and when someone did a coffee run. Maybe another 8 cups there.

I used to be hooked on Coca-Cola but have had one can in the last month or so. It was my gateway drug :o

I too drink way too much coffee!....but I like it! lol

From reading this post I too will try an cut down / stop coffee eek! lol

Just tea for me! :D

I could have two double espresso drinks in a day, others I could do without and not feel any worse off for it, dunno what the fuss is about.

I used to say this sort of thing before I had experienced the wrath of caffeine withdrawal. It is absolutely horrible.

I used to drink too many coffees and a lot of the cheap red bull wannabe type energy drinks. so I could get through 12 hours at work, got really bad, then cut it all out, was pretty horrible for about 10 days then a massive fog lifted, I now have green tea, water and a max of 3 coffees a day, one of those is usually a bulletproof coffee (butter, coconut oil and cinnamon all blitzed together) for the extra kick and I really like it.

All I say is this, I gave it up feel much better for it more energy etc. I drink odd cup now and again cause it's nice but that's about it.

You have to give it up for 1-2 months just see how you feel, don't bother reading all these articles studies blah blah. We're all different, if you give it up and feel better after the withdrawals have worn off then you have your answer give it up permanently.

I drink far too much coffee, Probably more than Spook187 but I switched to decaff a few years ago as I could never sleep. Should really stop drinking it at all but I like it too much :D
