I need some stuff to go with my new Guitar, recommendations for amp, cable, strap all sorts

So the S2 sits pretty much perfectly between the SE and full fat then, as intended. Whether people consider them good value compared to what else is available is another matter.

And as with all PRS guitars they remain reassuringly expensive compared to alternatives, which is a purposeful brand trait. Still cheaper than that antique cello or violin.

Compared to the other orchestra string instruments PRS actually do come up cheap. Gibson and Fender are like pocket money. Don't get me started on wind instruments. My wife's early 1900s clarinet value makes me weep.... Its a short stick with a hole in the middle ffs

You are not wrong there, someone at work has a £6,000 violin....I mean, what on earth!

Anyway, if I were to get a les Paul, it'll be the real thing, aka gibson studio pro, as opposed to the studio only. If anything, the pro comes with the case, which I think is worthy of the upgrade alone.

PRS, if I go that route, I'll have to find a secondhand CE22/24, as opposed to a new one. The new all USA one are too much for what they are really.

The old CE22/24? Before they open that korean plant :p

Not sure about a new one, I mean if it's true that they use some korean machined parts even for their private stock then strictly speaking then no.

Just been looking on the Gibson site.

The least I would go for would be the Les Paul Classic.

If getting a Gibson you need the Mother of Pearl Headstock and the neck binding minimum imo.

Studio Deluxe II are £849 in Andertons at the moment. They come with the hard case and coil split function which makes them a bargain.

Neck bindings are not essential, after all, Strats don't have them and a lot of the PRS don't.

I wouldn't personally go for a Gibson without the binding but it won't make them play any better. Best bargain at the moment though are the Les Paul Signature T which are coming in around £1k in a number of places (rrp £1600)

People often seem to report studios to be less comfortable on the fret board and assumed this was down to the lack of binding. From my experience of playing a lot of them (Studios through to standards) during my many guitar buying escapades over the years, its simply poor fret dressing on the studios to blame.

We know but there is something not quite right about not having binding....the guitar feels unfinished on a Gibson imo.

Fender doesnt matter one jot....its a entirely different beast :p

Binding, mother of pearl inlay.

I have both on my T5, it'y pretty for sure, as are the nicer knobs but I dunno, will have to think hard about it, it's cosmetic really.

Actually, looking at the spec, what I paid for the T5 seems like a bargain compared to a Gibson Studio Pro.

Hollow body (more expensive to manufacturer)
Mother of Pearl inlay
Ebony fretboard
Ebony Bridge
Binding
Taylor chrome tuners

So I called Guitar Village, all Gibson Les Paul have 15% off (unless stated otherwise).

I don't want a Classic, although it's cheaper than a standard with the bling, but the classic has the 50's neck which is more rounded and thicker, the Studio Pro has the 60's neck, as is the Standard.

I have until Friday to decide. (Pay day tomorrow).

You want one of these ideally as they have the 60s slim neck http://www.andertons.co.uk/solid-bo...ature-t-in-alpine-white-burst-with-chrome.asp

I don't like them without the binding... just doesn't quite look right... (only my opinion of course)

Here's my Korean Epiphone LP and amp, because why not :p

The standard with binding is £1700, vs £850.

It's not exactly pocket change....

I would go for the black or the teal blue, they don't look would have place without the binding due to the uniform colour as opposed to the sunburst style.
