What have you done to your car today?

Just give it a good wash & checked all my fluids, Little treat for the car for going through the MOT so easy. :D

Gave my car a wash, note to self don't use jet washes at petrol stations, they go waaay too fast. In the end had to use the free water from the air/water area to wash soap off the wheels lol

Finished sorting the osr handbrake, the little retaining pins for the shoes had popped through the backing plate but it didn't really look rusted so I just "gently" knocked the gap a little smaller and resecured.

Also found that the third rear pad sensor in the last year had destroyed itself - this one just completely separated from the little metal pin at the pad. Had enough, closed the loop and heatshrinked it up. All BMW sensors that failed / for damaged as well

We await the it's too damn big to fit anywhere comments shortly ;) Have fun they are a great car and the B&W stereo is something very special in the XJ...

Haha it's the SWB version so isn't that much longer than the XF. Think the XF was 4.9m and the XJ is 5.1m

I found the 6" made a lot of difference, it went from just fitting into car parking spaces to sticking out of them by a fair amount.

Sorted out my rear foglight housing, secured by rear plate (both were a little loose), tightened the battery clamp, checked all my tyre pressures, then put it up for sale :(

I drove an S-Class and now a Range Rover daily and have never found either to be a burden. I never know where these people drive where they struggle to "fit" somewhere. The roads are not that small :p

Its not the roads that are a problem its car parks and the XJ is 6 inches longer than the range rover, which is the same length as an XF

I expect they're referring to the likes of many multi-storey car parks, in which the spaces can sometimes be quite narrow, and especially if they're as neurotic as me about picking up parking dents :p

I find parallel parking a bit of an issue in my XJ, and the entry/exit roads in multi-storey carparks. Doesn't bother me that much, but I often have to park further away because I can't fit into a space that most other cars would.

Youd have to be pretty bad at parking to not be able to park an XJ sized car in any carpark i ever go to, ive not driven a car any smaller than one for years :p

Your obviously lucky where you live then as the XF is a complete b%^%$% to park in any of the car parks round here due to space sizes, ridiculous turns and ramps and general crap design. The XJ when I borrowed one before I bought my 3rd XF was too long for most of them to go round the corners and then when you did get into a space stuck out by a significant length.

I've noticed this in multi-storeys around here. The Bentall Centre car park in Kingston for example is a bit of a sod if you've got a car longer than the average Corsa or Focus because of the tight turns, narrow entrance road and angle of the ramps.

Put the bonnet back on and polished up the intercooler pipes, yay progress!!1 Did manage to source all the ignition components I need after dealing with numerous time wasters, ordered the oils and coolant too.

I went for a drive with the roof down for the first time..

Then I washed and waxed it with Collinite 476s..

Then I fitted Night breakers as one of my old bulbs was shot..

All in all, very productive day!

Bought a set of 390mm brakes and 6 pot Calipers for the RS6. Just need pads, two spacers and some slightly longer bolts and I'm good to go. Apart from the better braking, unbelievably, when the discs/pads need replacing it also works out cheaper - £1000 for original OEM front discs and pads vs £600!
