*** The Official Dark Souls II Thread ***

You seem to have a grasp of demon souls then :) for me to get the best out of a pve sorcerer
, what starting class would benefit me most in the long run?

Royal, most definitely. Starts with a Mana regenerating ring and the Soul Arrow spell. Also, it's one of the easier classes as it starts at Soul Level 1 so you can start building it to your liking straight away.

Thanks i think ill do this! Is sorcery a viable combat style in demons as it is in dark? Or is it not as good?

I think it's a viable combat style, especially as in Demon Souls you rely on Mana (which can regenerate) rather than having a particular number of casts per spell like in Dark Souls. I must admit though, I started off using magic but ended up being fairly melee based by the end of the game. Whether you're a magic user or not you should always have a decent melee weapon available IMO.

I think melee is how Souls games should be played to be honest. The games seem so much easier with magic that it just doesn't feel right. I literally breezed through NG+'s in Dark Souls with my Mage character, it was only slightly difficult during the first half of NG but as soon as you get Crystal spells and then the dark spells it becomes loleasy.

Beat a couple of bosses in the dlc

Artorias was quick but easy as a sorcerer, but manus is giving me a bit of trouble :P

I agree about melee feeling like ther proper way! My first char on ps3 was indeed a melee sword and shield type of character so just trying sorcery as a 2nd run on pc

Maybe i should go melee in demons first then if sorcery takes away from that true souls vibe

Just booked up to go snowboarding on the 15th...
Without trying to sound sad, It's a little dissapointing the Dark Souls 2 will arrive probably an hour after I leave! lol

Suppose the week will fly by so won't feel like i'm waiting any longer really but been waiting on this for years.

Dark Souls 2 > Snowboarding :p.

Shame you're still end up playing it before PC players :(.

Dark Souls 2 > Snowboarding will depend on whether or not I'm still any good. haha.
I suspect the above statement will be true as it's been a few years.

Snowboarding and Dark Souls 2 are similar in that you spend 90% of your time messing up and having to start again.

I'd be too impatient to wait for the PC version - but I also don't use my PC a lot as the wife stuidies on it constantly anyway

You might be crap at snowboarding now too though :p.

I'm hoping the PC version is released at the end of March will be handy for me anyway as I have exams until the 3rd April. Any later than that and I'll probably crack and buy it on PS3 and sell it when the PC version in released. They're leaving it really late to announce the date though that I'm starting to worry :(.

Might be the way forward. My ps3 gathers dust now,but I think the wait for pc version will be worth it cos graphic is going to look much better on pc.

I very well might be. I mastered Demon's Souls and Dark Souls but with each new game, you feel like you're starting again and your knowledge of the previous game doesn't really give you much of an edge. Maybe slightly, but not much. That's the great thing about these games and how brilliant the game design is.
Even a series veteran has to approach each area and enemy with caution.

I never mastered snowboarding (only ever got 'decent' at it) so I'll most certainly be back to basics there for the first day!

I can't wait, so certainly be buying on PS3 as it's a game I could play many times over so don't mind just picking it up on PC later when I fancy playing it again.
Got special edition pre-prdered for only £35 on Amazon so seems worth it to be able to play now. Can just sell it on for £20-£25 to get PC version later

Same here, im happy to buy it twice just to support from software

In that interview above, they mention that changing elements of the game to make it sell more copies is against there companys philosophy, which really gets me excited and says something about this company :) they want to make the game they want to make, and not sacrifice the formula for a few more sales

I went for ps3 when i saw rumours of a may pc release, obviously i hope this isnt the case but if it is i wont wait that long. The souls games arent about visuals for me but either way the style etc still looks great on ps3

*on a related note, ive just beat 1-3 on demons, really enjoyed that area and the boss is one of the better ones for me of this game! Reminded me of the artorias fight in the dlc for dark souls

Only 1-4 left to go now (that im aware of)

Its not taken me as long as i thought it would but j think you have more confidence coming from dark souls first

Definitely, I remember after completing Demon's Souls bout 20 times, when I finally got my hands on Dark Souls (after feeling like it was forever to be released) I thought I'd kick butt on it, but I was so wrong. They changed a lot, to the point where the two barely seem to be related. Most things I knew about Demon's was very different in Dark. So I had to relearn everything, and that was just another bonus. The souls games are just in a different league for me.

Ain't that the truth, how many great series have gone rubbish since the dev feel they have to shore horn in something to make everyone happy. There are no survival horror games cos they have to "please" the action gamers, ergh!

Thief is probably a prime example, why is the option to go all out combat in that game? What "Thief" does that? It's there to please the action gamers.
