New tri-x black screening all over the place.

At this rate i may aswel leave my new replacement tri x 290 in the box at home and send it back for a refund haha

Suddenly dreading going home to install it tonight  dont fancy being faced with black screens and another 30euro wasted for an rma

Ridiculous that something so expensive can be so badly made.

Installed my new tri-x 290 today, longest I've gone without a black screen is ten minutes. Ridiculous. Hate the hassle if RMA'ing.

I share your feels... I'm in the same position with my 290X Tri-X waiting for me at home.

i have managed to get my 290 to work now, seems for some reason the intel graphics wasnt fully unistalled for some reason, ended up doing a new install of windows 7 and its working so far. havent done anything yet apart from sorting my drives out yet but no crashes so far touch wood.

The rig I've put it in is just a Foxconn H67 mobo with a Celeron G530.

I was going to pop it in my main 4770k rig (sig) to see if it black screened in there but after persevering through about ten black screen hard reset cycles it hasn't black screened in a couple of hours. So now I'm going to monitor it for a day before calling OcUK.

Report back please!

Just installed my new one there.

No black screens yet but I have fan noise again!
Different though, i took the card out of the case and manually turned the fans to make sure and yup, noise is coming from the centre fan and the one closest to the front.
The noise is fairly weird, sounds a bit like hard drive activity

I don't care anymore, I honestly cannot be bothered to RMA this unless it black screens.. but I am completely done with Sapphire

edit and on another note, the box was in bits when it got delivered. holes in it and everything. Whatever the hell DPD were doing with it

Are u guys using the Tri-x 290 non oc version? My Tri-x oc never black screens and runs solid for gaming and mining and never goes above 72c

I've had 2 Tri X OC now

The first card had the same issue as here -

The second one which I just put in is giving me fan noise too but not anywhere near that extent and it just sounds totally different

I'll power through here, just did a bit of testing with BF4 and it hit a max of 72c. As long as I can keep gaming then I'll put up with the added bit of noise

I've had some partial success this evening. I'm now the proud owner of 3 dead 290's rather than 4. The 2 Trix's that were giving me so much grief further up in this thread are now down to 1. Turns out the one that has now completely died seemed to be causing all the issues. I was thrown off scent last night due to it working fine on its own during some testing, just not with the other. Since then, it has died completely and my PC refuses to even boot into Windows before shutting down and restarting.

The good news is I have been crash and black screen free for the last 2 hours of heavy gaming and testing on the remaining Trix. It's a lot happier now the other one has been removed, I dunno maybe they had an argument on the way here in the van or something.

So, RMA this Trix, see if I can get a decent one to go with my now happy one. Meanwhile, far off in RMA land are my original pair of 290's I had before Xmas...

i had to rma my tri-x 290 i was getting black screens and random flickering, i got a refund as i could not take the risk of getting another faulty card takes way to long to sort out. i've seen people talk about getting 3 faulty cards 1 after another, decided to get a 780 ti no problems so far... been with AMD/ATI since 9800pro but was time to jump ship.. such a shame with mantle just being released :(

Well had amazing customer support from Overclockers, they sorted out the return shipping for free and diagnosed it as fault within 2 hours of receiving it and send me out a new tri-x today. Fingers crossed its not a duff one!
