is it worth it. Just got the card less than two weeks. I think I can stepup to a evga ref. How ell do they OC. Is 10fps worth the extra £££.

Who has upgraded and seen a difference?
BTW couldn't see any threads on this.

If the 780ti can overclock to around 1250 you'll see about 10fps. A 780 at nearly 1300mhz though is probably matching or beating a stock ti.

I was debating the same upgrade but decided against it.

1200min and should get 1250 going by what I read and I said the same in another thread today.

Not really worth it if you already have a 780.

Vram in a way is all about managing your expectations. For instance i only have a 1gb card atm but it handles most games at acceptable settings to get the fps i want. I don't play much AAA games these days so it's enough for me atm. When i used to play AAA shooters i upgraded quit a bit but mainly for more Gpu grunt. However if i wanted to play full on settings @ 1200p in this years games i would not buy a 2gb card with the new Gen consoles out. 3gb would make me feel more comfortable as i feel Ram is about to spike up because of this. Those with 2gb cards will still be able to play even if this is the case as i can still play pretty good settings on 1gb.

Umm 780 and 780 ti both have 3 gb of Vram :D

Well i did this and the best answer i can give you will all depend on what it will cost you, it cost me £100 to upgrade, selling my 780 and then getting the best bang for buck 780ti, which at the time was the Gigabyte OC version which did 1163 out of the box and a further 130MHz overclock for benchmarks, but had to back of 50mhz for BF4 as it would crash with DX error

Performance wise it was worth it as i game at 1440P it kept me above 60FPS 99% of the time infact in bf4 it was more like 80fps, before this i had the Evga SC AXC 780 and nice as it was it was not the best out of the box and it did not overclock all that well either but it was very cool and silent

Also if you are going to use the step up be aware that you will only get the titan type cooler ti with a lower clock speeds, most 780 OC versions are faster than the standard 780ti outta the box, if you game at 1080P and at 60Hz id stick with the 780, if you play at 1440P 60Hz or 1080P @ 120Hz then the ti would be better, but if using the step up you will have to rely on good overclocking for the reasons i have already mentioned :)

Now all you need to do is decide if it worth it for you :)

I noticed quite a big difference, though my 780 was pretty pants at overclocking. You can OC to 1200Mhz on the stock cooler on the 780 Ti.
Also how much is the step-up? For me it was only £17.

Keep what you have.

Rule of thumb. Factory overclocked 780 at 1050+ (base clock) like the GA Ghz, PNY XLRL8 OC, Zotac etc has same power as a stock 780Ti.

Keep what you have, The Maxwell variant should be out later this year and you will be better served going from a GTX 780 to a GTX 880 rather than 780, 780 Ti etc...

Do as I did. Get a second 780 2nd hand for about £250 and experience higher frames than a 780ti will ever get you.......or any card to be honest!
