Hi All,
Just built a pc with
A10 5800K
Gigabyte F2A88XM D3H
8GB 1600mhz C9 Ram
Corsair CX430M
WD CB 1TB HDD
Zalman Z3 Case (quite impressed by the case..excellent for the money)
Windows 7 pro

The screen doesn't appear very clear and text is a bit fuzzy...
The monitor is my old Packard Bell LCD not sure what model atm,
(VGA input only I think). The screen res should be 1440x900.
Everything appears to be set correct such as screen res and refresh rate but I can't get a clear picture.
The monitor was fine with my old imedia system on Vista.
Any ideas ?

I'll be honest...I haven't updated any drivers yet.
I do have the exact same mobo in my sons pc and display is fine with that although Im having trouble trying to update the bios.
Mine has the newer bios but I haven't tried updating drivers etc...I will try this tonight.
Tried the auto adjust many times just to make sure.

All drivers up to date.
The text appears fuzzy still.
I googled it and it would appear there are lots of folk with this problem...
How can it be that Vista was pin sharp on my monitor yet 7 is pants ?
Not liking this one bit.
I've tried alternate themes and turning clear type off and various screen res and refresh rates to no avail.
Anybody ? (please don't suggest new monitor).
My Monitor = PKB VIS191WS.

I think I've just about tried everything now apart from downloading and replacing the fonts.
I think I may try a clean install just incase something went a bit pear shaped during the original (obv clean) install a couple of days ago...I don't like doing that though as the updates take a couple of hours ish.
The text is really weird...it's like the fonts are not totally black and have a slight shadowy greeny colour sort of behind / within them.

What's the prefered method when installing updates...
let it download and install critical and optional updates or
Install critical updates only.

I had a similar issue (sounds like it), it was that in the monitors menu, the 'sharpness' had changed - I just needed to move it around until it looked okay again.

the thing is though, the windows, images and everything else is crystal clear...it's only the text that's not clear.

Yeah, it was the same for me. I have a dual monitor, when I dragged the window to the other one it looked fine. The images and everything were fine - but the text seemed very 'Pixelly' and fuzzy.

I just tried my spare monitor ( Dell E173FP ) with a new VGA cable and the text was pin sharp.
I am now on the PB monitor with the new VGA cable and the text is rubbish again.
I can't quite wrap my head around this !
I'm going googling again.
It's annoying because I can't enjoy my new build until I've sorted this.

An obvious question, but you have tweaked ClearType as much as possible, yes? Its one of the first things I notice when I have a new monitor/windows install and usually have to spend time fiddling around with it

Having said that if you're using VGA its an analogue signal so many possibilities for something to go wrong.

Thanks for all suggestions,
I have now swapped for the Dell monitor and even though it's not widescreen and only 17" the text is spot on !
I still can't understand how my old monitor worked fine with Vista and not W7.
I just worked out that I bought my last PC (i media with PB Monitor) around 7 to 8 years ago...maybe thats the issue.
It's as though the pixels blur.
Lets hope I find a suitably cheap replacement on tomorrows deal !
