280x or 290?

Dilemma. ......

Prices are high and I am on a budget, but may be buying a 1400p monitor dependant on another thread, so which do I want?

Also Gigabyte or Sapphire ?

Budget approx 350 but very willing to go down :D in price :eek:
 
It's not really a question we can answer as it comes down to how much you want to spend.

IMO the 290 is worth the extra over a 280X.

At that res 290 will do very well the 280x not so
 
One that works?

Some have black screen problems its due to memory voltage which will limit the OC or do it at stock this was mainly with reference cards if you go for an aftermarket one they come pre overclocked and with better memory depending on the brand,.
 
Given that some of the 280X's are more than some of the non reference 290's then i think you be daft not to get the 290, plus at 1440P the extra grunt will be needed for quiet a few games ;)
