*** The Official Dark Souls II Thread ***

Definitely, I remember after completing Demon's Souls bout 20 times, when I finally got my hands on Dark Souls (after feeling like it was forever to be released) I thought I'd kick butt on it, but I was so wrong. They changed a lot, to the point where the two barely seem to be related. Most things I knew about Demon's was very different in Dark. So I had to relearn everything, and that was just another bonus. The souls games are just in a different league for me.

Ain't that the truth, how many great series have gone rubbish since the dev feel they have to shore horn in something to make everyone happy. There are no survival horror games cos they have to "please" the action gamers, ergh!

Thief is probably a prime example, why is the option to go all out combat in that game? What "Thief" does that? It's there to please the action gamers.

Yep :( look what happened to dead space, and so fast too!

The could have followed suite and incorporated micro transactions to refill ectus flasks or to kindle bonfires ;)

Resident Evil is the biggest culprit for this. I loved that series, but Resident Evil 5 was horrendous, not to mention 6!

Every game should have kindling fires :)

I agree, resi 4 started the decline. Dont get me wrong it was great but it was a side step from what i loved about the first 3. Then it done really well so i guess they got caught up in that and lost there way :(

I cant see it being good again less they go back to the series roots!

Agree completely, Resi 4 was a great game, but you could see Capcom where going down a different path... and after playing Resi 4 for the first time, I knew where that series was going.

Resi 5 was so dire, I hated that game so much. Not only the all out action rubbish, but that annoying AI partner wasting your ammo and doing crazy things... oh I'm having flashbacks of that awful game now :(

I actually never played Resident Evil 6, but the reviews/gameplay I saw was enough to know it was the same old rubbish that was Resident Evil 5 so I was not handing any cash over for that.

Hopefully they will go back to their roots of zombies and the same pace as the best of all of them, Resident Evil 2!

How many have 'The Dark Soul'? Would also be interesting to compare the % between those who platinum'd Demon's and Dark Souls. Could imagine Demon's would be a lot lower % to be honest as it required a lot of grinding and most likely a lot more playthroughs.

2.2% plat on demon souls, 6.2% dark souls plat

Dark souls was maybe pushed more and many maybe didnt know of demon souls

Also i wonder if this is global or by region

I got the Plat in Demon's Souls twice, and got 98% a 3rd time. Only missing the moonlightstone weapon and lost my save data so it's stuck at 98%.
Only got about 65% or something on Dark Souls.

Demon's Souls I thought required a lot of grinding but with some luck it was actually easy because of the way the levels were seperated. With Dark Souls being so open I found it really hard to find out a lot of the things I needed to do.

It's % of players who played it though so it's all relative. I'm not surprised at that though, the things you needed to plat Demon's Souls required so much grinding. Dark Souls could be done in 2 and a half playthroughs and after the first it can be rushed through pretty quickly and it's only for boss souls used in multiple weapon upgrades.

I got all the achievements on the PC version of Dark Souls. It's challenging but certainly not as bad as Demon Souls, which as mentioned needs a lot more grinding to get everything.

I got to 90% of the achievements in Dark Souls and I missed out by not cutting off Seath the Scaleless' tail off. I might play through it again at some point and get the last 2 achievements. Never played Demons Souls as I didn't have a PS3 for very long.

Good point!
