Dent and paint damage

Walked to my car this morning and found that some charmer has hit it when it's been parked I'm guessing a delivery van or something as the damage is very high up.

I should count myself lucky they missed the light and the rear window didn't smash but I'm still annoyed as there's no note or anything.

I basically have 3 options;

Get it pushed out and just hand paint it too stop corrosion and worry about it when I finish uni in June.

Pay the full wack and have a body shop do it (expensive)

Get a new boot of ebay and transfer everything to the new one when i finish uni and leave it to rust for now.

I'm in my final year so I haven't really got the time or money to spend on sorting it what do you guys recon is the best plan?

A second hand boot lid would definitely be the least costly and easiest way to make it look tidy again, provided you can find one in reasonable condition.

Any CCTV around?

Nothing unfortunately.

I was thinking this there seems to be quite a few but will the colour be a match even if it's the same paint code with them being from different cars?

Ah that's shocking :(

I'd go down the hatch off eBay route personally.
Try a silver one and if it doesn't match, get it sprayed. Can't imagine that would cost too much.

Unlucky :(

I'm going to report it to the Police too see if there's any cctv I'm certain there isn't but nothing to lose really.

Then it's probably going to be getting a new boot fun times!

Can't stand stuff like that, idiots who drive away after leaving such a big damage on someone elses property.

If you don't have the time or money I would just push and hammer it out and then paint and lacquer to protect it. Although it seems to have surface rust under paintwork already?

So I contacted the police today, they tell me that they don't handle stuff like this anymore, If I want to find out if there is any cctv etc I have to go through my insurance company.

I assume as soon as I do this it's marked as a claim on my insurance because it's highly unlikely they are going to find who did it, is this the case?
