Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PC version announced

So magic blue/red refill itself? No more rings to fill up to get juice flowing?...crap...

On the first level, everything is unlocked. Shortly after it though, you wake up a few hundred years later and you have none of your abilities. You have to drain orbs of blood to get void energy and I haven't unlocked the other weapon yet so I have no idea on the mechanic of that. Definitely not a free meal though!

Didn't like the first of the 3D reboots frankly. Much preferred the 2D Metroidvania style games (Symphony of Night, Portrait of Ruin etc)

Mine has been dispatched now so should get it tomorrow...hope Steam are not being silly buggers as they unlocked it early for EU digitally I hope that applies to retail keys as well

Right, I've got the chaos weapon now also (the fists). You have to absorb blood orbs for both of them, so have to decide which one you need more in a fight more often than not, especially on bosses. The void sword gives you health back when you hit stuff via a leach effect, whilst the fists destroy armour and break blocking enemies stances. To absorb blood orbs for the void sword, you press the left analogue stick in, whilst for chaos, its the right stick. Very simple.

Theres also a system of mastery with abilities, making you alternate your attacks to try and "level" each of them up, as they do more damage this way. Its good as it forces you away from just slapping X or Y all of the time repeatedly.

The game itself is very similar to god of war, but has some nice differences, especially with abilities. The mist ability allows you to turn into a cloud of vapour and move through iron gated doors that are otherwise locked. It also allows you to ride air currents to new destinations.

I've done a few bosses so far, each of them requiring a different set of abilities to put down without too much of a fuss, otherwise it can get hard quickly. The woman with the big knockers was a nightmare to put down as you have to avoid as much as possible as your health bar is a possession meter for that fight.

As youve probably noticed, I'm rather enjoying the game at the moment! I've got a few more clips recorded, mainly of boss stuff, so I'll upload them when I get chance.

How do you get blood orbs? The same way like in the first part?Hit enemies to fill up the meter, then you get blood orbs?when you being hit is back to 0?

Nope, they drop from dead enemies, but not all of them. Appears to be random.

Just got to probably the worst section I've ever encountered in ANY video game seriously. Stuck in a stupid stealth section in a garden part were the mob detects you and sends you back to the start with less health than before. If you touch leaves on the floor, he instantly knows where you are and you can't outrun it either. Why the hell did they have to put such **** like this in a good game?! Had 20 attempts at it and threw my pad across the room in anger due to it. Won't be going back

I read a review that mentioned something very similar, I'm not upto this part yet, but apparently the reviewer was frustrated and mentioned "mist is your best friend" in order to get past something. Dunno if that'll help.

Tried it, when the mist runs out though, agreus instantly locks onto you and its right back to square one, again....

Thanks for clearing this up for me.
That change the game for worse for me but I'll still buy it sometime.
Stealth is theirs biggest mistake!
How is the modern environment?Did game lose climate compare to first one?I'm playing first one at the moment chapter IX,and so far I love medieval setting of the game.

The modern world is built on your castles ruins, so has quite a dark theme to it anyway. A modern setting hasn't bothered me tbh.

Just read a few reviews of this that make it seem like one of the worst games ever!... I thought the first one was awful, but was still going to keep an eye on this to see if they might improve from it... Seems they haven't!

Made it past that leaf arena and kicked his ass in the boss fight go figure.

Easiest way I found

Distract him to the entrance from as far back as you can.
Jump across some leaf to the block by the roots.
Mist around the roots and cross the leafs to the wall mount point.
Then shimmy up around that wall twice and drop down.
Mist down past the closed gate and around the corner to the switch.
He caught up with me around there so I just misted past him and through the gate.

Took me 20-30 tries but the smoother and faster you go the easier it is, once you stop its impossible to get away when he starts closing in.

It's a real shame this has removed the main parts of what made me fall in love with LoS1...

The environment is the city and the city only. No more adventure feel of going through multiple terrains. It seems the story has been stripped.

Combat sounds the same, but the stealth side sounds utterly cack.

I will pick it up in a sale.

I'm about 15 hours in and not had too much difficulty so far (on the highest difficulty setting at start.) I enjoy the parts of the game when it's back in the old castle, it feels very much like LoS with tighter combat controls. I have to say I'm not a fan of the modern setting... it feels weak and a little awkward at times. Gabriel just feels out of place and it loses that feeling of what made me love the first game.

One thing, for the life of me I can't figure out how to set items to use in the D-pad menu. I've tried going into the main menu, tabbing across the "Items" I'm able to click on the item I want to use and have stock of, but there is no options to set them

Been playing for a few hours its ok but not quite up to the standards set by LOS1. 60FPS @ all times & reasonable looking graphics but textures are pretty ropey in places even with the high res textures enabled.

It feels to me like Mercury Steam were told by Konami this is your budget so they ran out of time/money & had to rush it out to meet the release date as it feels polished yet also strangely lacking in many places.

Take the between levels in game cut-scenes they are lavish/superb & obviously cost a lot to produce but add nothing to the atmosphere really just telling the background to the story.

It plays/feels a lot like God Of War/Shadow of The Colossus but just comes sort of LOS1 greatness & is a slight let down not because its bad but because it feels rushed/unfinished & more like a massive DLC pack for LOS1 than a true sequel.

If you liked LOS1 I do not think you would feel as though it was a waste of money it just could have been so much more :(
