As for it not being a major problem, I think it is. I'm one of the biggest gamers I know, and I love talking about games. Lately the negative atmosphere here has made being here difficult. Fanboys are nothing new, the ignore button is there for people if they are fed up of the arguments. Ignoring less than ten members would remove the bulk of the same old arguments. To date it's been fairly confined in threads like this one and I haven't seen much evidence of it for example in the Xbone and PS4 standalone threads.

As to the last part of your comment, that's hardly going to help matters as it goes both ways and you are clearly aligning yourself to one side of the divide. It has been going both ways, there are several Xbone fans who do try and wind up some of the PS4 fans and that merely makes things worse.

Perhaps those that own both platforms should put their side of things a bit more, rather than XB1 owners defending themselves or PS4 owners talking so vehemently about hardware they do not own (and never intend on owning for that matter).

And for the record, I have now pre-ordered the XB1 Titanfall bundle that will soon enough be sitting next to my PS4.

So there, go smoke on that, yeah...

I don't entirely agree with that, there are 2 or 3 people on here who like to cause the arguments from the XB1 side, I see the same names in pretty much every thread that heads that way.

Did this really need it's own thread? I mean why not just stick the new price of the console in the official XB1 thread?

Here's the rules:

anything to do with XB1 goes in XB1 thread, any PS4 discussion in that thread is not allowed

anything to do with PS4 goes in the PS4 thread and XB1 discussion in that thread is not allowed

all other threads should be about games and if one platform has a superior version whether it be FPS, Resolution, graphics, DLC, etc, etc then the OP should make it their priority to get all the facts right in the OP and update it accordingly.

then leave the bulk of the thread for discussion on the game.

take the BF4 thread nobody in there has been bashing the XB1, everyones just been bashing EA and DICE.

The game threads will never stay peaceful like that though. You'll have the PS4 guys making comments at the XB1 guys for having a worse looking/performing version, and you'll have the XB1 guys defending their purchase at all costs.

A recent Jumquisition highlighted some disturbing points about the gaming consumers of today and it's very sad that it's turned out this way.
it's not limited to Xbox V Playstation or any console v console debate.

There seems to be this thing now where people bash other people for enjoying something. That in itself is just weird and pathetic. It's like gamers have forgot about the word 'fun' and seem to get a weird, depraved satisfaction from negativety and hatred.

Someone comments saying they really like and enjoy something - then a dozen people come along to tel lthem they are an idiot and moronic.

It's the same thing as people getting all upset when someone bashes something they love.

The only instances when I laugh at someones opinion is when it's a close friend because we just take the mick out of each other a lot as mates do.
I can't recall ever saying someones 'opinion' was incorrect and I'm not sure why anyone ever would.

Just chill out and get back to enjoying games - why these people even play games is beyond me as they seem to spend more time moaning about them and about others

That's true, the Xbox defenders do bite, but only because the Sony fans often start it. If they didn't bring up the (usually) irrelevant specs and start badgering the Xbox/MS, the Xbox defenders would have nothing to defend against.

It's swings and roundabouts though. The Sony fans think the Xbox fans cause the arguments. The Xbox fans think the Sony fans cause the arguments. Both sides need to stop otherwise we'll end up with nothing but arguments in here.
