False shoplifting accusation

I think the two points your most upset about is 1) the fact they're still saying we saw you trying to conceal items - which clearly isn't the case as they already confirmed the items you had on you were purchased. 2) the Junior manager is still recommending that you get banned from the store.

You should try and complain as high as you get. Have you had any form of apology from anyone?

This is what I would do. I wouldn't take any accusations of shoplifting lightly, I'd want an apology.

Why are you going nuts? They'll review the footage and find you innocent, that's it.

I am very angry.

I am so anti-stealing you wont believe. If they would review the footage and say they got it wrong fair enough. I am humiliated enough and any recognition it was an honest mistake I would feel better.

However they maintain I was seen concealing items and it is solely my fault. I am going to SAR them and prove their claims are wrong.

I am not a thief and never have been. An 'ok, sorry sir we got it wrong' would have been fine by me. However the continuation I was reported by customers and recorded concealing items just untrue and unfair.

I'd put it in writing to someone higher up. I'm sure they will take notice that a customer who spends over £7k a year with them is being falsely accused and banned from one of their stores.

I am a 40 year old male in a suit, my partner is 38 in business clothes. I spend about £20-£25 a day feeding a family of 2 children and 2 adults with some wine now and again.

Like I say we are considered good customers but now are being considered to be banned from a store for nothing. I know I don't steal and their detention has proved that as all items were paid for and correct.

It is life but why? What have I done? They say I was concealing items which is not true, why should I accept that?

I see your predicament and the only fair thing to do is find out where the "Trainee Manager" lives and kidnap him. Demand an apology and a Dale Winter 2 minute Super Market Sweep shopping spree (insist that CD's/DVD's are allowed to be part of the deal). I would also insist on Dale Winter being there and firing the starters gun. Actually I would insist on Dale Winter having to wear a Batman costume whilst firing the starters gun but hey, that can be negotiable.

My advice is don't go for big items like a Henry hoover or heavy items like weights (not sure if Tesco sell weights), as they will make your sprinting around the shop quite tough and the big items will take up valuable space in your trolley.

Everyone's a winner :)

Sort of, but they've had the opportunity to be reasonable and still carried on threatening to ban him. I'd keep going until I got the apology tbh, you don't want to be going back wondering if you're being watched/followed around.

Well we've only heard one side of the story. Part of my job is to review serious complaints against us from customers against our staff and I can tell you that both sides will exaggerate the incident and leave bits out. For example I had one this week where a resident had said one of our vehicles held them up for over 15 minutes whilst they were servicing a particular street; so I looked on our GPS tracking system which trace every movement of our trucks and saw in fact it was less than 5 minutes.

If the security guard or junior manager were telling their side of the OP's story, it would probably differ and paint them out to be the victims for just doing their jobs.

Like I said it is not a suing/compensation thread.

I feel humiliated and it seems I will continue too. I don't want a supermarket sweep or financial compensation.

I truly hope it doesn't happen to anyone else as I wouldn't wish the humiliation on my worst enemy.

I have no idea why I was targeted. Some of you might think I am a thief, I know I am not and have an impeccable record to support that.

Guess they could have mistook you for someone else, and they do have camera footage of someone who looked like you nicking something.

If that is the case though, seems a bit bizarre that they wouldn't apologise when proved wrong...

I regularly put stuff into my jacket pockets as I walk around and unload it at the till to pay for it, have been followed by staff but never confronted.. Seems a bit odd unless they can show you the footage.

I wouldn't let it go and would push for a written apology from someone senior and the junior manager at minimum
