False shoplifting accusation

This is the coolest story in ages.

If i get accused of such things i just call the guy a c word then move on, not cause a kerfuffle.

There are some loons out there, you probably took the trolley whoever "tipped them off" was going for or something :S

I hope you're not telling porkies. Right thing to do :D Tell him to get a real job :L Police man in dress up.

I would have expected an apology after it was proven that I didn't steal anything. I always set off peeps at my local tesco when i buy meat because they have those anti-theft badges on them and they don't get removed when you pay for it.

This probably explains it. They will be aware of the peeps (and presumably that it was meat from the tag) and if they didn't stop you after the peeps they may have checked CCTV to see who set them off. In this scenario they know who you are and it looks to them like you have stolen some meat. No surprise if they try to catch you out.

Have you got a loyalty card that might have transaction data showing the meat was paid for on the day the peeps went off ?

I have a Clubcard and it is scanned daily. Even though it is a super store I know most of the staff and some by name. I am now facing a store ban as I am accused without any evidence I can see at the moment for 'concealing items'.

My vouchers usually add up to £40 each time which shows how much we spend in store, we wouldn't get that amount if shoplifting.

To be honest I feel sick about the experience.

In fairness to the OP, I would be a little ****** but then I would realise that I have a life and deal with it. Sounds like you have given them a reason prior, as they seem to be singling you out?

Never been through anything like this in my life and am gobsmacked as I work in the security industry and this could cost me my job. It is a small town and two co-workers have already called me saying they saw me detained outside this supermarket beginning with T.

I just can't believe it.

Seems like you should be looking for a new job, or new career, pretty sharpish.

You might also want to consider burning down the store. Just sayin'. You don't want to look weak.

Your first mistake was with the security guy. Protocol dictates that in this scenario you stand and bang - or at the very least adopt your boxing stance before putting your first under their chin.

Because of these blunders, you're limited to either nuking the store from orbit or getting a new identity as a Brony meme on OcUK.

I used to work in one of the big four, remember on several occasions having to apprehend people in the car park for stealing things. If I searched someone who I though was stealing, to find out that they had nothing on them, I would offer them a full apology there and then. Sounds like they're being totally out of order in this situation. I would push for a formal apology if I were you.

Didn't you call in the police to perform the search? Or would they never protest to the search?

I am a 40 year old male in a suit, my partner is 38 in business clothes. I spend about £20-£25 a day feeding a family of 2 children and 2 adults with some wine now and again.

Like I say we are considered good customers but now are being considered to be banned from a store for nothing. I know I don't steal and their detention has proved that as all items were paid for and correct.

It is life but why? What have I done? They say I was concealing items which is not true, why should I accept that?

I think the two points your most upset about is 1) the fact they're still saying we saw you trying to conceal items - which clearly isn't the case as they already confirmed the items you had on you were purchased. 2) the Junior manager is still recommending that you get banned from the store.

You should try and complain as high as you get. Have you had any form of apology from anyone?

I get the impression there is more to this story than has been revealed.

You should go steal some meat. If you're going to get the aggravation, you might as well have a free steak to make it all worthwhile.
