Have a look here mate

You want the single ship packages tab as they all come with a copy of the game. Cheapest without Alpha/Beta access is $30, cheapest with is $40. Not a great deal in GBP anyway :)

Thanks for that! so yikes they go up to a silly amount, is this like a pay to win type thing? Or will i be able to get the other ships in game somehow later?

You can buy everything in-game with in-game credits, spending more is just a way to support the game and a bit of a reward for doing so.

Whatever you get you can change back into cash (on the website) to put towards another purchase if you change your mind later. I'd recommend getting this $40 pack to start with as it will reserve your Alpha/Beta slot. Have a mess around in the hangar module a bit and then decide if you wanna upgrade at all.

Thanks mate! Right thats exactly what im going to do, thanks for the help.

Sent my PAGAN request.

I like the backstory and the raison d'être of the Org, hope it grows over the next few months.

Welcome Kablooey! Just accepted it mate, sorry was at my parents without internet!

If you've any ideas for the org etc feel free to mention it in org chat, suspect it'll grow more as DFM module etc are released :)

Yeah don't worry to much at this point....although basically everyones computer will need an upgrade if you want max settings in 2015 lol.

Yeah Chris Roberts said the idris had increased in size and capacity as its used in some of the single player squadron 42 missions and needed more rooms. He was saying he thinks the owners will be impressed with the new bits.

I wish I had one, but ill get it in game eventually.

Im not a subscriber so don't get jump point unfortunately :(

Yeah, i bet they'll be impressed :D
Theres a few ships im not sure how obtainable they are, whether they're purchasable just expensive and have a long weight for production, or whether they're is a limited quantity and obtaining one is a matter of 'obtaining' one :D

Some ships cant be bought, but there obviously has to be a production line for them because of LTI and general insurance saying if its blown up you'll get a replacement in due time, but the Scythe for example we wont be able to purchase i dont think, unless other races will sell them to us?

I found jump point your right its not hard to get hold of :P
Glad you found it, im not a subscriber either ;)

Jump point is usually uploaded elsewhere, it's against T&Cs to do so which is why I don't but you can usually find most versions somewhere on the net or via torrent.

Annoys me that it's not available to everyone, subscribers put money in to benefit everyone and we get little cosmetic bonuses so I don't' see why a PDF should be considered subscriber only!
Im perfectly happy with the benefits/perks offered to subscribers, but at the same time I think it probably makes sense to make them timed exclusives, let them have it 1-2wks before making it available to all. Yes, people can still 'acquire' them, but thats exactly what people are doing now anyway. There should be account locked perks, then subscriber funded productions like '10 for the Chairman' which is open to all to appreciate (albeit with the perk of being able to submit questions to be answered).

Anyone who's contributed to the $39.5m pledged should be able to receive these benefits, after-all its those funds which will be building the majority of the game, and people waiting till its released and buying a game license would only really be contributing to its future development. I dont see why we're not all in this together, but at least we can get hold of it by other means, i'd just rather contribute by buying ships. It feels like a better return for me, while still funding development every bit as much as a $120/yr sub would be.

I actually suggested a time delayed released of JP earlier today in the subs forum, nobody else backed the idea lol. I think it's fairly pointless to limit it, but you are right there needs to be benefits or they'll miss out on the extra revenue. As much as subscribers like to say it's done almost for charity, the truth is they(we) all want the extra badges and perks..

I agree about the yearly cost, I'm use to subscribing to an MMO so to be fair I don't really noticed this and enjoy the subscribers forum, it's a bit like SC for adults, less bickering although the real quality posts tend to be elsewhere.

Loading up the hangar module made me realise how much my gtx460 is going to struggle with this. :(

Don't take it too hard, the hangar makes everything struggle as its not optimized yet.

I wasn't even getting a solid 60 FPS with an R9 290 4GB lol

Yeah don't worry to much at this point....although basically everyones computer will need an upgrade if you want max settings in 2015 lol.

Yeah, i dont think they've bothered with any optimisation yet, some of the ships might but its not really intended to be anything more than a module of the game to view the model and something they can build upon bit by bit as other aspects of the game are implemented.

The Dogfighting Module in 6wks will probably come with some optimisation on the Hornets & Auroras if they're the first 2 ships in there, but i'd imagine the hanger is just a very basic build. The DFM is where they need something which is smooth and playable, which is reflective of a subsection of the final game, because they'll need to use this information to tweak and balance things.

Its probably comparable to wanting to play Crysis on high end settings a year before it was released to market, a beast of a benchmark for even the best hardware back in 2007. Planning for hardware in the next year with a view to it being for Star Citizen is probably a waste of time, its going to need the £300 cards of its time to get the results we'd be looking for. But at least we'll have a great excuse for buying them, right? :D

I remember spending the best part of £300 on an Nvidea 8800 GTS 640MB when Crysis first came out and it didn't bloody max the game out lol. That game was way ahead of its time, still my favorite of the series, along with Warhead.

And saying that I've still spent £300 on an R9 290 haha, will probably be buying another in a year.

Well after a lot of video watching and reading I've decided to go for the freelancer package, hopefully will be a good start and may chop it in for a constellation later on as that's looking nice too.

How will landing in planets work? Do we get to fly down there and then around the planet?

Planetary landings will be scripted to a point as they're not having atmospheric flight in at launch, but it may come later iirc.

Freelancer is a good ship and with the 'leaked' variants there's going to be a bit of flexibility with them too. I've got one to compliment my 325 Arbiter.
