My Phantom S5.

Nice car :) a friend had the older na and it was a great GT.

Is it ok with the lease company to modify it though? Sounds dangerous.

As its super-charged is Stage 1 a smaller pulley and some breathing modifications?

Stage 2, a further smaller pulley, bigger injectors maybe, what are the details and how much does it cost out of interest?

On a brand new car, what about warranty, will Audi allow this?

In terms of warranty from what i've read on various forums it's pretty much down to the dealer. Some will say any mods will void the warranty, others may only agree if they do the work, others may simply deny any warranty work if they find the modified parts caused the problem.

Too risky IMO.

I don't need to. Do the maths, 500hp S5 vs 450hp RS5... difference being the RS5 needs revs for that and the 3.0t is linear power.

Same way that a stage 1 remapped a3 2.0tfsi at 250hp feels a lot faster than a standard 250hp 3.2 v6 does.

Looks great! That engine and S-tronic gearbox are awesome.
Which tuner you going for? From what I've read APR are the main ones (with massive fans in the US), and there's also MRC this side of the Atlantic who get a couple of mentions on forums.

For those asking about tuning stages because the naming system is naff:
Stage 1 on these is a map (to hold onto boost rather than bleed it off).
Stage 2 on these is a smaller pulley to spin the supercharger faster, and mapped to suit.
People generally do an air intake and exhaust at some point (either a completely new system or just decat), but I can't remember how that fits into the 'stages'.

Above that it's then separate cooling loop for the supercharger, as a few back to back dyno runs will have it too hot and to save the engine the ECU will bleed boost pressure back into the intake to reduce the intake temperature. I think people call that stage 2.5.

I remember seeing something from APR on Audizine about a replacement supercharger (and being called stage 3), but can't remember if that was ever brought to market.

Main reason is I work for one of the market leaders in the industry so it 'makes sense' I suppose.

As others have already confirmed, Phantom reference is to the Phantom Black paint.

Basic spec is 2014 B8.5 S5, 3.0tfsi Black Edition. Technology pack high, panoramic roof, Audi Drive Select. I cant remember the complete list of extras but it has quite a few.

I know the 3.0 TSi is good engine and good on fuel too, I have no idea what you mean by it "makes sense" either!

Surely nath this is like the overclocking argument for computers ;) yeah he could spend how ever much more on the next one up (RS5? dunno about if there are different petrols in the S5s) orrrr spend a little bit more (loose use of the word little) and squeeze the potential the engine still has yet to give ;)

but then again.... busting a £200 quid CPU and putting it out of warranty is a bit more comfortable than voiding(possibly depending on dealerships stance) one on a big ol expensive sexy car :p

either way.... GIVE ME YOUR CAR!

I understand what you mean but a remap usually mean no warranty?

I would just enjoy the car for what it is (very nice!) and do get too fixated with tuning (yet at least!)

This stage thing is daft. It's not a universal measurement, it means nothing really, just say what it is you are actually doing to the car, avoid all this nonsense of people having to ask what is actually being done.

my brother had a remap on his 2012 audi and it went in for a repair.
they just updated the software and nothing was said to him.

I know it is a separate topic, but yes I agree.

Really annoys when people are like "yeah man, was a stage 2.5 etc bla bla"

WTF does that even mean.

Mine is a stage 1.5 with full washer fluid for example, it really does mean **** all

LOL.

But agreed, just say what its had done, going of this Stage nonsense my BMW M3 must be at Stage 100+, counting every item I removed from it. :D

yeah true, hence my own counter argument against myself regarding the warranty xD

but yeah.... I'd probably give it a few months at least.... if you ran into any "from factory" issues (which hopefully you won't *touches wooden desk* ) it would be such a kick in the nuts if they turned around and said it's on you because of a remap :( suppose first port of call is asking around your local audi dealerships to see what their stance on modifications are and keep asking till you find one that says it's all cool ( in writting ;) )
