I know my card isn't the most beastly, but it's far from pants.

It's a EVGA 670 GTX FTW edition. Ass creed 4 kills it, any idea why? Or what options are best used with this card? Thinking of upgrading but to what? I run at 1920x1080p.

It does, but adding another removes the faff of selling your current card. :p

Where you go will depend on what you have to spend.

Theres been a lot of improvements made with sli over the years ive had no issues with my sli 670s, while heat / noise I cannot comment on however with water.

The other option is ditch the 670 and go the 780 / 290 route but a lot more expensive for the same performance

AC4 is horribly CPU bound and I don't even think it uses 4 cores correctly. I doubt it even really matters what GPU you have.

I'm running a i5 3570 @ 3.4Ghz on stock cooler.

Maybe I can buy a better cooler and clock the cpu more? Tried before and it doesn't clock very well but the stock cooler is crap for that.

Im on a i7 4770k with a 770 and just knock a few settings down from max to make it playable.

Completed the story line last night, I enjoyed it....wish I would have done more of the side quests but it does end open world so you always can do them.

Its sluggish on my GTX780Ti after the latest patch they broke something wait until they fix it I guess (disabling PhysX helps a bit but not much some places it crawls along).

What did they break? Is this patch 1.06? The HUGE one?

Whatever the latest Uplay patch is it made the game slowdown a lot in places with PhysX enabled but even without PhysX it still chugs along & to me feels very unplayable I gave up on this for now if a single GTX780Ti cannot cope @ 1920x1200 then I will wait for the fixes (I suspect Nvidia do this to sell more GPU's though ).

Ah, I only played for a few mins last time I had a go on it...

Well, I've ordered a new cpu cooler anyway, I currently run my i5 3570k at stock (3.4) so time to push it to 4.0 or higher... A few other games I have will benefit from this.

Game is really poorly optimised for pc, I get around 40FPS last I checked with SLI 780s... This was back before christmas so maybe there are performance updates.

Is it possible to LOCK fps lower than the lowest it gets? Or lower than the average? Say it spikes from 40 to 60fps on the settings I have, the 40fps is very noticeable. Where as, if I treat it like a 360 and maybe lock the fps to 45, I will get used to it and not notice the fps drops?

I'm happy to do that. It's when I'm in a game flowing at 60fps and suddenly it drops for a bit. That really annoys me.

What the actual F?

I play for less than 60 seconds, vsync on so it's locking the game to 30fps (not that fussed), but then it just plummets down to 5fps and doesn't move...
