So the new Flora ad....

Do you really think they know your having dinner when they Air it ?

Given the times it's aired at one would assume so.

At least you get to sit down in your comfy house eating your rich economy food. The whole point of the advert is to bring to light that babies born in those conditions die on the same day. They don't even get a chance at life and people like yourself are complaining that you have to watch it while your eating your dinner ! Get over yourself.. :(

Get off your high horse, these adverts are exactly why the ASA were created.

Made me chuckle, kids wouldn't understand it...

A lot of children's shows have some innuendos built in so adults enjoy the humour too... It's no different

I don't see what's so morally wrong with not wanting to have a childbirth broadcasted in all it's grotesque glory at a time when most people will be eating dinner, or any other time of day. The fact that they've chosen to have it broadcasted at this time is just odd. Is wanting to have some sausages without seeing a childbirth and facts about how it WILL die (advert carefully specified) so horrible?

How could anyone confuse a sexual perversion with wrestling????

Is this in the wrong topic or something, I'm not feeling the relation?!?

You know this is about the new Flora ad right? Which features references to Wrestling and Sex?

The picture is of 90s 'wrasslers' "Demolition", whose ring attire seemed to look suspiciously like S&M fetish wear.

The inplication from myself is that maybe 'mummy and daddy' were indulging in some kind of kinky sex game.

I don't see any problem with that and I certainly wouldn't shield my son from it.

As mentioned it is no different from the 'adult humour' you get in some children's films, panto etc which are watched by young children.

Where in the advert does it say sex ?

The key part of the ad is that it doesn't actually say sex. Its implied, humour that children just won't see and will just think its an advert about parents wrestling. Thats why its funny and why its safe for broadcasting during core hours.

People need to lighten up and stop being such prudes.

i will never understand why violence is acceptable but sex isn't.

kids can sit and watch people fight and kill each other and blow stuff up all day, but apparently a nipple will make their minds break.

Its a very british and strangely - american belief. One that is not shared on the continent where you get far more nudity in adverts than we do.

Eh? What part of my post made you think I was against the advert?

blah blah blah

Tell me, what's worse? Thousands of children born to lead short, painful lives or...

...preventing their suffering from ever occurring?

Please don't tell me you believe that we can fix the mess in Africa by giving financial aid. We've been trying that for 30 years now.

Ah, yes. The classic 'look at the outcome far removed from the abhorrent thing I said' argument.

Mass sterilisation of an entire continent.

You actually said that. Think about it.

Never assume anything.. Unless your names Dr Watson..

NAY lad, I'm afraid of sitting on a horse. Whats the ASA got to do with anything, the adverts been passed for airing.

I personally don't worry about how many Africans die because I can't really do anything about it, I do get ****ed at small minded people making totally selfish remarks about their sensibility being offended because an advert about a women giving birth is shown while they are eating.

But just in case your soft here's a tip -TV remotes have channel up channel down buttons on them.
