Hey up,

I posted here a while back about an office PC, but since prices change so quickly in the PC world thought I would throw up another since I have a definite budget now and a time scale, being this week!

Is a full build so need every thing including the two screens, although no OS is required. I also need it to have the following:

  • Ideally mini-ITX or M-ATX form factor. Although can go ATX if it saves money.
  • Able to have two screens from the motherboard (as no need for graphics card).
  • A decent CPU but one that won't get under used. Its going to only be office work, albeit over 2 screens with 10-15 tabs open and several Microsoft Office programs.
  • Screen wise, I need 1080p and would love 24 inch screens. Ideally the screens would be very adjustable with height (I was instructed to get a stand for them as well, but its for a glass desk and the cheapest stands are £100... so I think its better to spend the coins on better screens). Need two of them remeber.
  • Colour wise for the case I would love it to be black to match the other CAD PC I have build in the office.

Really do appreciate the help! And BTW, the LESS I manage to spend = more money for me. Its for my dad and I have a total budget of £1000. Need to get a 10" tablet with this as well (Got one in mind for £300) and ANY money that's left over goes to me .... So no pimp! The less that can be spent the better, as I get moar!

Thanks a lot,

Grady!

I would say 3 years .. but that's only because I upgrade that often. I can't see my dad getting another after this one though, so longer is better. His old PC was 10 years old and he was still happy to use it.

I will do you a quote when I get into work. The 2x height adjustable 24" screens won't be cheap tho... So your budget is £700 after accounting for the tablet you are after?

How's this:

YOUR BASKET
2 x Iiyama Prolite B2480HS-B1 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black £149.99 (£299.98)
1 x Gigabyte B85M-D3H Intel B85 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £59.99
1 x Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £47.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £43.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED34GM1600HC11DC01) £31.99

Case has a PSU with it - wouldn't normally spec this, but Antec make top quality units. Also, if you have any issues with it, Ace Modder the Antec Rep on this forum will sort you right out - their CS is top notch!

Ah snips you pipped me to the post! Here is my take:

1 x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £549.42 (includes shipping : £13.75).

Not sure which is best, I believe the Intel G3320 in snips build and the AMD A6-6400K are very similar in terms of performance. My build does have an SSD though which would be very beneficial to overall speed of the machine. Also got a DVD/CD writer in my build if even needed these days!

The issue with your case will be the PSU - cheap & cheerful until is goes POP! Sorry, that won't last :(

Ah yes, I didn't realise the case you quoted had an Antec PSU too - nice.

Howbout this then, you can get your dual monitor stand in there on budget:

YOUR BASKET
2 x Iiyama Prolite E2483HS-B1 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £119.99 (£239.98)
1 x Arctic Dual Monitor Stand Z2 with USB-Hub - Black £59.99
1 x Kingston 120GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S37A/120G) £59.99
1 x AMD A6-6400K 3.90GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Dual Core Processor (AD640KOKHLBOX) £49.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A55M-DS2 AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £41.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED34GM1600HC11DC01) £31.99
1 x Antec New Solution Series NSK-3180 Mini-Tower - Matte Black £29.99
1 x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £553.82 (includes shipping : £19.10).

Also changed the case to same as Snips as both the PSU an case are probably superior.

EDIT: One problem with the Antec case is that it is on pre-order with no ETA - probs why I didn't spec it in my build to begin with

The OP did state that "Ideally the screens would be very adjustable with height". This rules out budget end screens and adds £60 to the cost of the overall build (£30 for each screen)

Price is going up and up here..........

The ones I spec'd are adjustable and reasonable! Spec in budget too :D

Smashing stuff, thanks for the help everyone! Going to go with the above build, but change to the adjustable screens instead and not go with the monitor stand. Reason is that the desk is made of glass and won't think it will be able to take a clamp arm! Might take away the DVD drive as well, as I can't remember the last time he used one.

@ WalderX, the budget I have is £1000 for 2 screens, desktop PC and a 10" "laptop replacement" tablet.
