OCUK art gurus... please help find me the right painting for my dining room!

As per title, I would please like your help in finding a painting/print that would suit my apartment.

Location: Dining room

As I like to have people over for dinner and drinks, I would like a large picture that depicts and conveys an air of people relaxing and having fun, and it can be showing people from the 60's era (the elegant style is timeless in my mind) to the present day, in any appropriate setting:

WANT:

  • An elegant cocktail party scene with elegantly dressed men and women chatting and having a good time
  • A dinner party scene with men and women chatting and relaxing
  • Anything that relates to the above

DO NOT WANT:

  • Abstract style or anything surreal

I have been Googling myself and come up with a few images but nothing that as yet captures my imagination. Looking forward to any suggestions any kind souls can give. :)

Hang a mirror on the wall, people can look at themselves being elegant n shizz...

Do the same for the toilet and bedroom, same reason :eek:



And what on earth was elegant about the 60's??? :confused:

That runs the risk of guests mistaking their reflection for another encroaching peacock and attacking said reflection to assert dominance for mating privileges.
 
Don't worry guys, I know it's GD, and after being here so many years I created the thread in the full knowledge that in order to get the odd good bit of advice from people who aren't complete immature little so-and-so's, I would have to wade through waves of crap from people who are. I'll hold on tight until some of the adults turn up. ;)

It doesn't tie in to your style, but it's a timeless piece that is a conversation starter!

Are you looking for a hand painted canvas?

I got one off ebay from china, was a huge piece like 5 foot by 3.5 foot for not much over £100.

Same thing here would have cost several times that amount.


Or are you looking for a poster for like £10? If so just get any high res image off google and then take it to your local printers who will print it out to whatever size you require, you could get them to print on canvas too but hand painted canvases are more authentic.

Heh agreed it is very cool and I do like them... but more one that appeals to the lads I think. :)

Hey PS. To be honest, for the moment the format is less important... first I need to find a picture I like (regardless of format) then I will take it from there. :)
