DoD: Day of defeat.

I was hooked on playing this for a number of years. IIRC, my rank was in the top 5 on multiple servers, so it wasn't too bad.

I think my sister still plays this!

The Community is still pretty active for DoD Source. I play it all the time. I could recommend a few great servers if anyone's interested?

I've sunk way more time then I should have into this.It does lacks a little touch of class from the original, and I do miss playing as the Brits (Bren FTW), but it's still great fun.

I'm a big DoD Source guy (used to play in a clan a few years back), and just reinstalled the game yesterday. Still feels great!

Would like reccs for a few good servers please... maybe even a clan/ladder if such a thing still exists :D

Cheers,

Su

DoD hill!!! That takes me back. Used to love the big cannon :)

I remember having to use a download manager to get the 2.0 update. Was around 230mb if I remember. It took me 22 hours to download.

Never have I defended a land line so fiercely :)

DOD_Avalanche was ****ing awesome!

I loved the original version, was genuinely amongst the best, balanced and above all fun games ever imo.

Source version sucked ****.

Lol, so much hate for the Source version?! They took DoD and made it better with Source, IMO :p

As mentioned earlier in the thread the whole weapon spread cone thing was retarded (within reason you'd have just as much luck hitting from randomly aiming in the direction of someone as you would have aiming precisely at someone which took a lot of the skill out the game and hence a lot of the reason for FPS games to exist) and detracted a lot from what was otherwise for the most part an excellent update on the original game - though it lacked some of the quirky stuff that made the original so great like the British loadouts on some maps, etc.

Source version wasn't bad just never had the same feel as the old one.

Wasn't too far off other than the weapon feel, there was nothing though like the original where you could go on a rampage with the thompson and only stop coz there was nothing left to shoot lol.

Thompson on source was head shot city, i much preferred strafing with Kar98/Garand on both and did miss the Lee-Enfield most of all.

The original DoD Mod became my most played game for a few years. Absolutely loved it and it took over from TFC for my most played MP game.

For whatever reason, and maybe because I never gave it a proper chance, I tried the new Source version and simply didn't like it. It was all there but felt bland or lack something the original had.

Thompson was such a beast in the original! I loved the FG42 as well, the unscoped version. Also had a weird fetish for the M3 Grease Gun. Whoever mentioned Avalance that map was awesome, except when you're playing as the Allies and some dirty German has an MG42 in the double windows facing the plaza, or on top of the church. :p
