290X low fps again

Sapphire has a legacy and uefi bios on these cards for better mobo support, maybe its the same with these msi gaming cards. You need to use the right gpu bios to have better compatibility with your mobo

The switch i now am using is the one closest to the display outputs so would possibly go with what you observed in your thread, interesting and thanks for referring me to it.

Not got 14.2 installed at present although i did have to start with when the problems first arose.

PS: cant sleep to much sugar.

Ok it seems my issues is very much the same as your was in the fact that when i restart the pc or turn it on using either the 14.2 beta or the 13.12 whql drivers i get like 30 to 40% gpu power even though the clocks etc are still showing as normal, restart the pc and it seems to sort out the problem.
I have been into bios and made sure the onboard is disabled and that the gpu is picked to boot first and this makes no difference, plus i have the latest Motherboard bios.

May be an incompatibility between UEFI bios on the card and your mobo, the MSI legacy appear to be working for you now?

The thing is last night, early hours the problem occurred again and im wondering if its when parts have `warmed` through that the issue starts to appear as this morning the FPS are normal again. So leaving it benching at stock to see if a warm up will escalate the problem to show its ugly head.

Not tried the cpu at stock no, as its never been a problem in the past and without the gpu in the system is solid. And before it died the original card although noisy etc the system worked great with the current oc.

Ok. Just wondering if the over clock might have changed pcie frequencies or anything silly like that.

Hows it going so far? Been able to replicate the problem with legacy bios?

took the gpu back to OcUK yesterday and i was advised just how bad the 290 range is and the guy on the support desk said they were about fed up with them.
I was given a refund for the card and i have now bought my first Nvidia card since the days of the 8800GTS, and it should arrive tomorrow.

Well at least spill what NV card you got ;)

Heat was my first thought but that was seriously slowing down

Looking at your AB trace the card is hardly working. Or am reading it wrong.

Thanks peeps and it will be interesting to get it in and running, looking forward to having a system that works (hopefully) and is stable. Will need to learn the drivers again as havent used an nvidia card for quite some time lol

Nvidia is easy install drivers poof your done :)
If you want to overclock use EVGA precision,MSI afterburner etc

Thanks, will look at precision later, not going to oc straight away as must make sure card is stable first, had so many bad cards of late im a bit ocd now :D

Coming via Yodel, wonder what time it will be, got a free morning today, but sods law it will be after dinner.
