Hi guys,

Got a parking ticket yesterday in a place I've always parked. Apparently the sign to say no parking went up yesterday but they didn't notify anyone (the sign is on a cage for the shops bins, and not really in view :D)

Anyway the question, on my ticket he hasn't filled in the site number, got my car colour completely incorrect and not taken down the model number just "Jaguar". It would appear that a quick check online suggests I can appeal the ticket based on this alone and they have to get your car details correct.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers

I'm not an expert but I would say you have two defenses...

1) Can they prove your car was there? Possibly say that due to inaccuracies in the invoice ( don't say what) you need photographic evidence to prove you parked there.

2) They can only charge you for reasonable loss incurred so you could ask them for evidence and breakdown of their loss.

peipipoo are best for this kind of thing. Do not ignore.

I had something similar happen to me, when i appealed it they said the details on the ticket were incorrect and cancelled the fine.
But they actually wrote down the wrong street name!

Do not bin it. The registered keeper can now be pursued. The bin it defence was when this was not possible so the company could not issue court proceedings against an unknown driver.

If they haven't noted down the site number then I take it that means they have no way to prove where the ticket was actually issued and supposed offence took place so it's pretty worthless.

You should refute it rather tahn ignore it. Don't go into details, just say that they have charged you in error and youw on't entertain any claim. You could also say that you give notice of a charge of £50 to be made for each further request for payment.

They've changed, but it's not much of a different situation. They can take you to court, however they can only chase you for an amount of money that they can demonstrate they missed out on due to your actions, which is pretty much <£10.

Ergo, it's not worth their time actually chasing, so whilst they might harass you more and look like they're doing more, the reality is that they won't because it's not in their financial best interests to actually take it to court.

They aren't actually fines, they are speculative invoices if they are from private companies.
