Closes to £2,000 I've seen is LG's 4K, and that was £2,300.

Today I've seen Sharp's new 4K TV for £1,999!!

Sharp LC60UQ10

Anyone else seen or bought even this TV? I can't find much on it....

It's listed on a well know high street chain's website starting with J ending in L! ;)

Getting ever closer to my budget these 4K TV's

Take along a good 1080p source like Blu-ray/Web-DL and see how it will look upscaled up to 4k as that is what you will be watching for foreseeable future.

Then Cable/Sky HD will look not as good as that source and SD channels I can only imagine will look bad.

You planning on using it for 4K PC gaming?

Otherwise they are pointless and a waste of money ATM.

Wasn't planning on it, just future proofing considering i was looking to spend £1500 on a new TV and it's getting ever so closer to that budget.

4K is here to stay, but we are very limited with no content yet atm

Remember getting 1st DVD player, was only 10 titles available at the time people thought I was mad!, worked out in the end! lol ;)

Future proof as much a you can when 4k is mainsteam and the 4k TV bought now is not outdated with features/improvements.

The days of future proofing are gone when a TV will do a job for 15+years as companies know fools will buy a new model every couple of years (same with Ipad/phones etc).

DVD player can sit and still use VCR till it took over, the TV is your display and non 4k material may not look good on it.

I wouldn't buy a tv at the moment for 4K. If it was capable and is a panel you wanted anyway, why not. I do think the content is going to be available much quicker than some people here think, however, and that uptake is going to be considerably quicker than it was with full hd. Netflix and similar services will have 4k soon enough and it will be available to download or buy on usb. Give it a couple of years.

When it come to TV's, there bought to be used for a number of years.

Current TV is just over 7 years old, but it's showing it's age and had a hard life with my Son growing up using it as something to hit. lol

Has, no internet, 3d, smart features, usb playback so getting anything I know would be a big improvement! lol

Just trying to maximize on my investment...

Buy a smart box like ones you see on TV that are tiny and cheap or buy a WD Live series.

The smart side on the 2013 LG I had froze all the time and many report the same.

would you spend £2000 on a PC to future proof yourself?

or would you spend less and get bang for your buck and then upgrade as necessary?

future proofing just doesn't work with tv's.

if they decide to change something your tv could become obsolete immediately.

remember how they changed freeview from analogue to digital? remember when they introduced freeview HD it required a different type of tuner because HD uses a different type of signal/encryption.

buying a 4K tv now is IMO about the worst tv you could buy as they are expensive, have no content and most likely full of problems which will be ironed out over the coming years.

codecs, tuners, standards all need to be established. content delivery needs to be established. basically the current infrastructure has no room for 4K.

if your happy with your current tv then keep it. if you want a new one get a 1080P sony LCD.

Remember that! :-/ had to go and buy a Freeview HD box....

Been looking since the new year and shortlisted 2 sony's, W805 and W905...although 2 newer models have been released this month, W855 and W955

Avoid the W805, it had much worse black levels than the other Sony's if I remember correctly (although better viewing angles). The W905 I've seen in stores and it had great PQ for an LCD.

get whatever you feel offers you the best for your money.

I normally opt for bang for my buck, my past 2 tv's have both been top of the range panels and 50"+ for less than £800.

both were brand new and EOL when i bought them and 50% off or more since their original launch RRP.

have a scout around at what you get for your money and what you think is worth it. 4K IMO is no where near worth it at the moment and won't be until everything has been established.

they could force people to upgrade all their tuners and then put these tuners into new 4K tv's meaning you will have to go out and buy a box for £300 but new 4K tv's in the future get them built in for free.

you cannot go wrong with a new Sony 1080P LCD, just find one for you and your budget.

£275 from Sears in the US. :p

I wouldn't touch 4k for quite some time

Only content I would get in 4k would be games probably
Then you need a beefy htpc

With no ability to stream for me there's just nothing out there that I personally Could make use of

4K LED will probably still suffer from Backlight bleeding/ bright blotches in dark scenes and blacks that are not Panasonic blacks, take care because both Sharp and LG LED suffer from backlight bleeding, i bet it's still there at 4K

what about 4K gaming on a big tv ? it'll be no good at all because Crysis 3 will look no better right now on 4K than 1080p, this is because the gaming world you walk through looks very poor and unrealistic compared to real life, it's not the resolution, it's the lack of realism, to get this right would require an Engine about 10 times more powerful than Cry 3 and a truly massive PC.

you will not see a truly realistic environment in a shooter, where everything is detailed accurately for at least another 10 years.... therefore 4K gaming on a large tv is a total waste of time.

yes, 4k will look sharper on a larger screen, but you are highly unlikely to have a 75'' screen at home, too flipping expensive and a bit too big for the average end of terrace LOL.

common sense tells you about 55'' to 70'' ( now that's HUGE) so this will be 1080p OLED.

The size limit of 1080P (REALLY IMPORTANT) i noticed was about 65'' but OLED is a much better image for its size than Plasma, so maybe this is about 70'', this is worth researching.

my 50'' Panny had a sharper image than my 55'', but i got used to the bigger screen quite quickly, but the image for the first 3 days deffo looked better on the smaller screen.
