I am sure I have nothing to worry about but just wondered if any of you guys might have any reason why they might be.

I haven't used my Alfa in about a month, it is parked on the roadside, taxed, MOT'd and insured.

Last night we had a bit of a gathering and wanted to get some more wine. My neighbour who doesn't drink drove my other half to the shop in my car. No incidents and I trust both the girls.

Only thing is we had to jump it as the battery had gone flat due to lack of use. The neighbour and my other half are named om my policy so insurance isn't an issue.

The traffic cops turned up in a Land Rover and had a good look around it, I couldn't go out as I was taking a business call. By the time I finsidhed they left.

I am probably worry unnecessarily as they could have knocked on my door if there was a problem. Just get worried as I have another neighbour who is a complete pain in the backside who seems to spend most of his life making stories up to the police.

Standard GD reply: lube up.

Does seem a bit odd though. I suspect they would have knocked on the door though if there was anything to it.

There'll be back to Blow it up later so I'd get anything out the car you want to keep.

If your worried, ring the local cop shop, explain what happened and why you couldnt speak to the officers at the time, and ask if theres anything you can help them with.

My guess would be that's why... Someone's seen it sitting there unused for a month, and assumed it was abandoned & therefore reported it. Police came round to check it was taxed & wasn't a clone etc, found all was fine & went away again.

This. If there was a problem you would've had a knock at the door.

It's taxed, insured and parked outside the keepers address. No Problem.

I've had a letter through to say that police spotted a satnav mount in my car while it was parked near a friend's house.

A colleague of mine has also had a letter to say that they found his car unlocked.

It seems in Sheffield at least, police patrol the streets looking for stuff on display and trying car doors when there are no baddies to nick.

Well they haven't been back and I have received no letters so hopefully all is ok.

Speculation from one of the neighbours is the busy body neighbour was trying to frame me for something like drink driving. Like I said I had been drinking but the driver and my partner hadn't. I haven't used the car since but I am wondering if I am going to get a lot pulls now.

Just have to wait and see.

inside job. cops are gunna half inch your car!! :p

if in doubt, as stated, just give ya local coppers a call. I mean they are there to protect and serve (or is that just an american thing) so you should have aright to know why they are snooping around your car :)

and booooooooooooo to meddling neighbours! :(
