With the xbox one having less power then a PS4 do you guys think this is going cause game makers to use lower graphic settings for games that get released on both the PS4 & xbox one so the xbox one can still run them ?

Of course it will. The XBox One is also responsible for what's going on in the Ukraine right now.

It hasn't so far so I doubt it will in the future, apart from a few exceptions every multi-platform game has been the same or better on the PS4 in terms of resolution/frame rate.

No. If anything, the PS4 will mean even better graphics for the Xbox One. I doubt developers would have even bothered making better games for the next generation if the PS4 wasn't so powerful.

In other words, Xbox One owners should be glad the PS4 exists otherwise they'd be playing 8-bit games all day.

Oh the sarcasm.

Personally, I still play my original gameboy with Tetris more or less on a daily basis.

Does this mean I'm slightly behind on the generations?

In all honesty, the xbox one being the base line for performance will affect multiplatform titles, so there should be some visible difference over multiplatform games and exclusives in the future when we get to heavy hitters.

If anything the PS4 is holding back truly next gen games. OK UberGraphics but no camera out of the box will stifle Kinect development.

It may be controversial but let's face it, neither console is really what we were expecting from true "Next Gen" in terms of graphics. With a proposed seven year life, they are barely able to do high levels of graphical detail at 1080p/60fps reliably, even if they wring more performance out of the hardware with clever programming over the years it's hardly breath-taking graphical performance.
