Hi All,

I currently have a Buffalo NAS running 2 1TB WD Red drives in Raid 1 configuration for use as a sort of a home cloud. I wanted to be able to easily stream to mobile devices, tvs etc and its just not up to the task.

So my partner has a PC which is an Intel i3 2120T (35W) in a Zotac H67ITX-C-E motherboard and an AMD Radeon 7700 1GB and a 128GB Vertex 4 SSD, which I'm thinking of turning into sort of server. Now as you can see the thing runs almost nothing when on idle (25w according to my plug in watt-o-meter) and under full load gaming at no more than 110w. but as you can imagine the PSU is hardly being used at all so i was wondering which PSU would be best to transform this computer into a mini its server to run as quiet as possible.

cheers

thats not too bad to be honest, i realised after my many years of computer building that you get what you pay for when it comes to PSUs! i wonder how i skipped past that one :-D

is this PSU quiet? it doesn't really say on there and theres no reviews. will have a little peek at net reviews/vids

I got one of them Seasonic PSUs for a MATX office build and I was very impressed:) Solid build quality, 80+ gold and good cable length.

It powered a i3 4130 (with onboard graphics) and I could not hear it at all. I was pleased to notice that it had a 5 year warranty to.

Theres not many reviews of the power supply but the ones that are about give very good reviews of the PSU.

The g360 has pretty average noise levels. I'd get a low wattage be quiet psu, l8 400w (80+bronze) or e9 400w (80+ gold)

hmmm theres a few possibilities isn't there, the seasonic first mentioned isn't very efficient at low wattage which at around 20W use will be fairly bad.

the sea sonic g 360 seems good but loud so thats no good either. those be quiet ones look fair and are fairly cheap. any others to look at?

thanks for the advice so far :-)

I'd just grab the be quiet l8 400w. It's on sale at ocuk for 31.99 which is a steal.
