Hi. Gave my son my old laptop as he's obsessed with tech, he's only 2 and a half and just looking for any suggestions of a few games (preferably learning ones) I can put on there for him. Any advice from others in the same boat is appreciated.

Also I'm keeping him off the internet so just desktop based games.

Thanks!

Vampire - The Masquerade. :D

Lego Star Wars Series
Lego Indiana Jones Series
Lego Batman Series
Lego Harry Potter Series
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
Pinball FX2

At least one sensible suggestion :)

Cheers.

NP man I have seen these types of threads before, sensible suggestions are few and far between.

also got him into Sim City 4, might mean you have to spend ages walking him through it but get the cheats and just let him build cities, although it depends on your Laptop I guess.

Moshi Monsters do a game thing on their website you can set him up on, really kid friendly and fun.

If your Laptop can take it can't go wrong with the Lego series.

My kids go on a learning website called busy things at pre school. Could try that.

Edit: sorry just saw no internet, but my two love it so maybe one for the future :)

cbeebies website

+1 It has a lot there, plus its almost educational. It has been my parents stand by on wet days for my Son this winter.

Personally I have been playing through Lego Marvel lately with my 3 year old (he just flys around as Ironman giggling as he destroys things). Tried lego Batman but it was a little too dark. We both use an xbox controller on an old pc plugged into the telly.

My son loves Cbeebies Website. I bought an old Sony 17" laptop off the auction site for my son when he was 3yrs as it looked a good choice not realising till I got it that in its day it was top of the range and has a blu ray drive and went for £1200 new! So he can watch Cars in HD on bluray. He has a few DVD's like Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam and there are simple games on there.

He is also a big fan of cbeebies website and plays all the games on there and they roll out new ones every so often, good for learning. One of his favourite games at the moment is Purple Place and its one that comes with Windows 7 in the Games folder! So thats a good freebie. I was wondering whether to buy him some games but he has not got bored of what he does at the moment and he is just learning to spell words in Notepad and likes using Paint a lot.

On a similar note what are you using for parental controls. I ended up using the one I got free with BT Infinity as it is easy to configure. However I tried a few and its easy to see why some parents haven't got a clue how to protect their kids online because I found a lot of them too finicky to configure so less tech savy parents will struggle.

My test is to set the automatic levels then see if it lets me on the Cbeebies website. You would be amazed at the ones I have set using their controls to a 3-4 years old level and they dont even let you on Cbeebies! Its because it has links to BBC Iplayer so the website is classed quite often as not suitable for young children. Crazy!

So I just do it manually block everything then give him access to the few sites I will allow him to visit. Even then he managed to get on YouTube albeit with age restrictions even though it wasn't one of the allowed websites. Nothing is infallible.
