OK…apologies but I have lost track with the GPU market.

Looking for advice on the best card to get for a strict budget of £200.

Game at 1920 x 1200.

Thanks in advance.

Should have added that I will be selling my GTX570 to a friend for £75...that is factored into the budget of £200.

Isn't that 280X just a 7950 re-marketed at the same point?

You can get used 7950's for about £140. Might be worth considering to save a lil money.

£20 extra (£220) would get you a brand new 280X (Re-branded 7970).

Really hope we get some new cards soon. Been the worst year ever for re-brands from both camps..

It is but for his Budget it's probably the best he can get. The next step up is 280x and gtx770 which are way over his budget. We all know the gtx760 is a bad option as it's to cut down.

It's a 280 (non-X), and yes, it's a 7950. :)

What about a used 7950 to save some money? Or if can add another £20 on top the budget get a 280X (7970)?

If he can get a used 7950, then that could be an option.

I must admit, that due to the OP's resolution, I did wonder if a 270x would be worth throwing into the mix? It's so very, very close to a 7950 + boost, would save him more money & he would still end up with a brand new card :

Looks like a decent jump up from his present card, too :

The 7950 in those charts has not been tested for ~a Year, thats how out of date the Drivers are in that comparison.

I have a Tahiti LE, (1536 SP's) its 10%~ faster than a 1280 SP 270X, according to that i would be 5% faster than a 1792 SP 7950 BE, in actual fact the 7950 (280) is about 10% faster than my Tahiti LE. :)

Wow...some really useful advice...many thanks.

Will do some further reading but the 280 looks tempting. I can also see a 270X with a copy of BF4 for £162 which looks like a real bargain...not bothered about BF4 so would sell code for £15.

If paying the extra £25 to go from the R280 to R280X doesn't seem worth it to you then paying the extra £50 odd between the R270X-R280 certainly isn't either. Especially if you don't intend to over clock the card.
