Hi Guys

I'm currently looking at the below

- Ford C-Max (Grand perhaps)
- Ford S-Max

Was looking at a Nissan Qashqai but will be out of our range, was thinking about a Mondeo Estate but the missus isn't keen on them

2 children, another due in July :), a dog and the ability to tow our Caravan, Diesel no more than 2.0L I think

Is there anything else I should be looking at

Many thanks

Mart

I was going to say Volvo V70, but surely with three kids and a dog you can only really being looking at vehicles with the option for extra seats in the boot? I.e. 7 seaters like the Zafira.

Well I was thinking that but the boys and baby could have the rear x 3 and the dog in the boot (minus shelf)

She has just said a Mondeo Estate is an option, I think they are good cars, all the toys and got MPG

Why get an MPV when an estate will do the job? More refined, better drive and better fuel economy. You'll have 3 children not 4 :p
Unless of course more are planned.

You have to think about the ages of the kids. A lot of cars wont be able to fit 3 x kid seats, be that 2 x boosters and a baby seat or 2 baby seats and a booster etc etc due to the layout.

Cars like C4 Picasso, C-Max and S-Max have 3 individual rear seats which can support this. I would be surprised if a standard estate car can do this.

7K should get you a decent 3 year old C-Max diesel

Was just going to say the same. 3 x car seats takes up a ton of space, especially the baby ones.

It's a real squeeze, which is why we went with a Zafira in the end for the 7 seats.

Though we can only really use 6 seats at the moment as we need boot space for the buggy etc. and with all 7 seats up there is only a tiny amount of space in the back.

I have a 2 litre diesel C-Max. And while I've no kids, it will take my two nieces in baby/booster seats and all their crap that comes with them. The boot is massive and benefits from the extra height over estate mondeos (550 litres to the mondeos 540, the third generation mondeo luggage capacity is smaller again at 537 litres). Though the Mondeo is deeper being on a longer platform. But as someone mentioned above, trying to squeeze three booster seats into the back of a mondeo isn't great.

I recently had a new kitchen fitted and managed to get everything from the old one in the back for the skip, bar the kitchen sink. And the only reason I couldn't get that in was because it was an awkward shape and I'd got the old cooker and all the old cupboards and drawers dismantled and stuck in there. So I had to do a second run just for the sink.

Play around with the comparison bit.

Not sure how it would do in terms of 3 baby seats in the back but perhaps a 520D Estate would be worth a look? Apologies if no good :)
