UEFA Champions League/Europa League 11/12/13 March *** Spoilers ***

Arsenal didn't do too badly tonight, but a win was always a massive ask.

Bayern were very poor though, very poor.

Were they? They did what they had to do, had quite a few chances, one goal ruled out and missed a pen. Had Arsenal stepped out of their own half I'm sure Bayern wouldve stepped up.

He's always awful, against Everton he came on against a broken and knackered team, against, whoever the heck it was that he got two goals, it was again two tap ins and everything else he did was garbage.

His last touches in this game, had the pass to make to incoming running, slowed, telegraphed it, blocked so easily. Got the ball on the edge of the box, turned slow as hell, wound up the shot slow as hell, blocked. 99% of the time he tries that his stuff, passes or shots, are blocked.

There is zero threat as a lone striker in which you expect him to "work" the final third. If ALL the work is done for him and he's expected to make a single touch either a tap in or a pass behind while standing still, okay, but working the final third... just woeful. Can't run with the ball, can't pass well, can't work a defender, mostly terrible heading. Really is awful when asked to occupy a defence.

He's an exceptionally limited player, if you accept that and play to his strengths AND realise when he's going to be completely ineffective and do something else, fine, but when you ignore his limitations and walk in to games like today with no chance playing the wrong guy, its a joke.

It took 2 months last year to work out exactly what kind of player he was, what he was capable of. Should have been looking for a replacement last Jan, two more transfer windows and all we've done is buy the most expensive big game player possible... if you count Norwich as a big game that is :(

We ran out of steam around the time we needed to really go for it at 1-1 and Bayern kept their composure fairly well. Oh well, didn't want to get beat/thrashed and we didn't, just a pity that's two seasons in a row a poor first leg at home has cost us. Oh well, strong league finish and that highly winnable FA cup...

Considering how well they can play, I thought they were pretty poor overall.

Arsenal should have attacked them a bit more and really had a go at them after half time instead of waiting until the last 10 minutes or so.

Wished we could buy all the leagues best players and have a 2month winter break like.. Bayern

Yeah winter break helps a lot. Squad depth for Arsenal is poor as well compared to Bayern..the subs that came on for Bayern is just another level really. Arsenal had a few 1st team players injured as well. Oh well..shame, Bayern did control it well tbf

Lack of winter break didn't stop Liverpool, Chelsea and UTD from going all the way. More a lack of squad.

It does help though.

When those teams won it. Did they have like 3 or 4 senior first team members injured at the time? Bayern are too strong. Too much depth and more refreshing then Arsenal

Nope, misusing the squad we have.

He's point blank refused to use Bendtner who has a good scoring record for us. He refused to rotate Ozil, instead preferring to run him in to the ground. If you want to say Ozil being cack is tiredness or being crap in the big games, BOTH are avoidable, tiredness, don't play him in every game till Feb, if he's crap in the big games, don't play him in the big games.

Wilshere has picked up knocks, has had terrible injury issues in the previous two years so has had essentially no rests between injuries. Walcott played every game between coming back from injury and picking up a season ending one. Ramsey was over used, everyone was.

Bayern have injuries and have had injuries, but they do something called rotate the players so they've picked up less and the players looked fresher(but rather uninterested today).

We USED to be able to play well throughout a season and when spending 100mil less on wages.

Players unused, players not rested, too many injuries, has nothing to do with winter breaks or squad size, but Wenger having his favourites and running his players into the ground while also completely ignoring what limitations players have and exceptionally rarely changing things up. ozil should never have started today and no reason Giroud should have either.
