LEAK aaaarrgggjhhhhhh

hello

recently built my 1st custom wc pc, wont bore anyone with the details however i have a very minor leak from the phobya 150 res only when the pc is OFF.

tried changing the fittings and rubber gaskets etc but same story. pc can run for days with no leak whatsoever. power down pc for a few hours and we have a small leak. only maybe 10-15ml per 24hr but still a leak onto the psu non the less.

anyone any suggestions? im leading towards a faulty res if that possible as i have tried 4 fittings ( 2 straight, 1 45 and 1 90 ) in the same port and everytime a leak. however i dont understand why its only when pc is off

Tried some silicon gel? Does it seem to be the thread? Failing that you'll just have to replace it.

hard to tell but replacing it seems to be best bet although may give some ptfe a go tho

Not condensation between the finning? Is it in a cold space?

defo not as there is a definite pool of water there plus when pc is off for a few hours you can feel the leak from said port

Have you checked the port's thread on the res? Could be stripped or something.

Pictures please!

Had had ad seen similar problems when the thread of the res is off. Double up on the O-ring and use pliers if you don't mind the possibility of stripping the thread (not like the reservoir is useful if it leaks anyway). Should be able to compress the O-rings enough to make it water tight, if there is two of them. PTFE for a last resort.

Will get some pics as soon as the missus home witht the phone. The idea of doubling up the o rings sounds good however one thing I will say is that its the one port in the whole system where you can clearly see the o ring. Every other port they are invisible. Please note its monsoon fittings I'm using and are as tight as possibly can be

Did that res come with extenders for the 1/4 ports? I know a couple of res types you have to use them on certain ports because of how they are set in

Exactly why i asked for pictures!

This is typical of off threads, whether the angle is wrong or they are too long. I assume if the other port is fine, its the first case.

In the other port I have a 90 deg fitting, the one in question is a straight fitting. The phone doesn't exactly take pics that are clear enough to see either way but will post them shortly.

There were no extenders or anything with the res at all either.

Quick fix would be a small dab of clear silicon on the threads before re-assembly.
