Installation manual, software disk and all the bits you need to mount to nearly all popular socket types.

This is the mounting ring, the one ring fits all sockets by sliding the lugs around the circumference. Then lock the lugs into position with these plastic bits.

These two brackets allow you to shift the position of the Kuhler radiator away from motherboard VRM heatsinks or any other obstruction at the top of a case.

They fit like so and you have a bit of adjustment due to the slotted holes.

This is certainly different, the pumps are now part of the fan motors, there are two pumps and the coolant gores into one pump then out through one side of the radiator, up into another pump and then back out through the other side of the radiator and off to the CPU block.

The 240mm radiator looks to have an average fin density to me, very similar to the H100i.

IMG_4593_zps58e4681b.jpg~original

This is one of the two fans which I wish they had made with black fins, I also wonder how much air flow is lost from the sides with there being no fan frame?

Mostly black cables a little bit of colour is shown where the individual cables go into the USB plug.

IMG_4587_zpsdeb3f5ae.jpg~original

The Antec logo is illuminated via RGB. You can select your own colour or let the colour change dependant on CPU temperature.

Cold plate base comes with silver based thermal past pre-applied.

Installation tip.

The four metal nuts that go into the back plate must be seated correctly.

IMG_4578_zpsc91cd8c1.jpg~original

This is how they normally sit and everything seems fine, but.

IMG_4581_zps619af593.jpg~original

If you clamp the cooler down to the backplate really tight then there is the chance you can chew the plastic up and they just spin in the slot making further tightening up or loosening difficult. Instead make sure they are seated beneath the surface line.

This can take quite a bit of force to do, the installation instructions make no mention of doing this.

Included software.

Included on the enclosed disk is Antec's new GRID software for easy control and logging of the Kuhler.

Very simple indeed.

Noise and LED illumination.

Below are two quick videos I have made showing the LED illumination and the fan noise from this Kuhler.

Performance.

Test setup.
i7 [email protected] with 1.3V
Gigabyte X79-UP4

i5 [email protected] with 1.35V
Gigabyte Z77-UD5H

Gskill Ares 2133Mhz RAM.
Gigabyte Geforce GTX670 Windforce X3 2GB
Antec HCP 850W PSU.
BitFenix Shinobi XL case.

I recorded the maximum CPU core temperatures with Coretemp after running AIDA64 CPU stability test for 20 minutes and divided the total by the number of cores.

The latest 3Dmark release was left to do a full run of all tests. Cinebench 11.5 64bit CPU bench was also used.

I have a Hilka Thermometer & Hygrometer to measure the ambient air temperature.

Conclusion.

I am not totally blown away by this new Antec Kuhler, I found installation more tricky to do than the H100i (which has one of the best mounting i have experienced on all in one watercoolers but the inclusion of those two mounting bars to distance the radiator away from the side of a case is a great touch. Performance is just behind the H100i and it equally as loud when the maximum fan+pump speed is selected, quiet mode is just that though and does equal highend performance heatsinks. I do not like the way you cannot change the fans and I wished Antec had included screws to fit an extra two fans to allow you to do push/pull but the H100i is also guilty of this. Price is good and undercuts the H100i by £5 along with a 3 year warranty.

Pros.

• Performance almost as good as its rivals.
• Price is competitive to rivals.
• Able to adjust the radiator mounting position to further improve clearance issues.
• Well made.

Cons.

• Stuck with the fans for life.
• White fan blades.
• Installation not as easy as its closest rival.

Great review Stulid.

Those mounting brackets to offset the radiator is a brilliant idea, wouldn't be too upset if antec sold them separately. In most cases the rad is central however there is more space away from the VRM's generally limiting the height of radiator you can use.

By offsetting the rad slightly you could install a thicker rad, however you would move the rad away from the case holes slightly.

That is the idea of the offset brackets, allowing tall RAM / more motherboard options and rad combinations.

Very nice work, though graphs are a bit TLDR after the first one. Can't help but think putting the pumps in the fan housing makes the whole thing far too complicated with all the extra tubing and connection points. Putting a single pump on the CPU block or on the radiator seems more sensible.

Their software looks like a child wrote it.

Can you set the LEDs to reflect the coolant temp? That would be clever.

Good review. Though the graphs could be a bit smaller, even on a 1080p HDTV you gotta scroll to see one graph in one go. Just a formatting suggestion :)

H100i with 5 pounds more for 2 years longer warranty vs this.. I'd pick the H100i to be honest.

Is this a second revision to the cooler after the previous problems? Mounting looks different...!?

Great to see you actually put it through it's paces and the results this time! Great work! :D

Love the mounting idea, I had a similar 'nut slipping' due to plastic surrounds on my NZXT Kraken X60... Last time I mounted it I actually used a rear plate from an old Corsair H40! ;)

Only just seen this - have to say I have very mixed feelings with mine (and having no "control" to know if some things are are usual for this cooler or not) - while I can't fault the cooling performance - infact with the right setup and if you don't care about noise etc. it probably beats pretty much anything other than exotic cooling setups however the pumps on mine sound like a small fridge most of the time :( (I've only really had experience of swiftech kits in the past so nothing to compare pump noise to but its a lot noisier than I'd have thought) and theres a bit of a dank mildewy smell expelled from it when in use which again I've not experienced with past watercooling setups. The fans can't be heard in normal use until you hit extremes but academic with the pump noise. I'll probably end up binning it or throwing it over to my other rig for extreme overclocking at some point and giving something else a whirl.

I am waiting for the 1220 version at the moment (held at OCUK until case is in stock).
What is the difference please, and have I done the right thing????

I chose the 1220 with help from an expert on here to fit in a NZXT 440 when it arrives.

The 1220 is the older revision. Both units are good. Reason for the 1250 replacement was because Antec wanted to design something truely unique with our own design. 99.99% of watercoolers all come from the same company/factory. A company called Asetec and they are all the same product with a different rebadge etc...

If the pump is mounted as part of the fans then why is the CPU block so big? It's the same size as (and looks very similar to) my NZXT Kraken X60 :P

Hi stulid - Hope you don't mind me asking but did you create the top banner in your first post of the review? If so, what is the font used for the text in it? I quite like it.

Oh, and nice cooler, great review!! :)
