Steam- Is it OK at the moment?

Couldn't connect...

Deleted everything except steam.exe and SteamApps folder etc and ran steam.exe.

Downloading is stuck at 0 of 78,122kb? Almost as if the network is down?

EDIT: Just started downloading after a LONG wait!

EDIT: Now getting "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam Servers"

What a brilliant system! So there I am attling away because they can't put a simple message up from their software telling you this?

And don't say it can't be done... Because it easily can

Seemingly now back up, and got a curious 'updating user configuration' message while it logged in...

I've been noticing Steam has been really unreliable lately... saying it can't get a connection, but spamming the login button for a while sorts it.

Can login on steampowered.com either! Times out!?

Yep very unreliable as of late. It seems to be a twice weekly thing at the moment.

I couldn't get on at all last night, along with that the LoL EUW servers were playing up as usual, uplay was having issues and Battle.net had a login queue. Was not one of my most productive gaming nights in.

The annoying thing is this was seemingly an organised downtime? So why doesn't the Steam app simply also fire to another server/network to get a "status update" which tells it to tell the user "Network is down for maintenance", instead of giving a vague error than implies the problem is with the owners machine/network. I wonder how many people - like I did yesterday - wasted time looking up stuff and even re-installing Steam!
