Any truck drivers here?

I did my training last year but got fed up with the examiner who was a **** head, failed me 3 times, all of which were for pathetic minor things which could not have been avoided.

So I gave up on that idea even though I could very easily jump into a class 2 now and drive it anywhere if I wanted.

Umm

You can't.

You failed !

And giving up after you spent all that dosh on training seems a bit of a waste to me !

Agreed, finish the Class 2, that's the hard bit, once you have the Class 2 the Class 1 is a doddle since you already know the gears etc.

The whole point is to anticipate and expect the unexpected situation, this IMO is the trick to making the unavoidable avoidable.

The **** head was harsh for a reason, the test is hard for a reason too!

Ditching the idea after the training is silly though, get it passed!

Fwiw I failed my class 2 & 1 first time!

i'm seriously thinking of going into trucking. been doing local bus service work now for the last 9 years or so and whilst I have no problem with the public or driving a large vehicle I would much rather be doing it alone without the hassle of kids/youths. that pay is a bit scary though for a company as big as they are that takes pride in their appearance you would think they would pay for the best drivers.

Those of us who live in reality..ie: OUTSIDE London area are on around £30k-ish

Around London you can stick another £10k-ish on that.

Mad ent it. Volume of scale makes EVERYTHING apart from property cheaper in London so they get paid stupidly more !

If you can afford to do it then do so. Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained.

I think I just caught out a truck driver taking his test.
He might have gotten away with that "hesitation" but not clouting the kerb and then selecting reverse !!

Nope but it was quite sudden and I wondered if it would catch the person behinds reaction !

They are Blackview front & rear cams. The back cam seems to record clearer even though it's only 720. I'm wondering if I should try sticking a little sunvisor over the top of the front lens to keep the shutter open better ?

I've worked harder for less tbh.

Clean work in the main, first rate fleet, uniform & P.P.E. Provided, driver CPC training taken care of in house, yes I do the hours, but to my mind the pros outweigh the cons.

Many hauliers pay a bit more but expect you to be "flexible" with regard to driving hours etc, at least ESL never do that and would rather a load was late than send a truck out with, for example, a marker light out.

As for your comment re passengers, that's the reason I could never drive a coach or psv, 26 pallets of Britvic don't moan at you!!! :D
