Anyone here recently switched bank accounts? Wondering what their experience is like; direct debts go straight over without letting company's know, income transferred without problems etc?

Currently with Natwest, but Halifax offering £100 when you switch and I qualify for the offer. Plus, its only £10 a month for the phone and car breakdown cover compared to £16 with Natwest.

Thanks guys :)

Call up Halifax, give them your existing bank details and let them get on with it. I switched from Lloyds to First Direct using the new switching service and it went so smoothly I was quite shocked. First Direct even contacted my companies payroll and got the details changed over.

Switch to First Direct instead of Halifax as others have mentioned. You'll still get the £100 but 100 times better service.

Stick with NatWest. Halifax customer service is diabolical in my experience.

Natwest has the worst customer service around IMO

They're all orange, scruffy and useless in branch and on the phone all they try to do is sell you loans and crap. If I wanted a loan, I'd get a loan, but my card isn't working you timewasting *******s :mad::mad:

Anyone tried Santander 123? They'll give me 1% cash back on my mortgage payments.

I switched from First Direct to Santander recently. They've been absolutely fine and the 123 account is a great product.

Admittedly the phone service isn't quite as good (unless you qualify for Santander Select) but how often do you call your bank? They still use UK call centres etc.

I've been with First Direct for a few years now and really can't fault their service.

You call up, they answer straight away and as soon as you're through the security questions, they deal with whatever you need there and then, no ****ing about sending you to different departments.

Got the credit card and the current account.

I make £20 a month on cash back, it's great. Always get through to a UK person when I call too. Can't fault it.

Used their switch service and all was transferred in a week :)
